In fairness just read their through on rawk, there are some real loons, but most of them hate the idea. One RAWK member has insightfully stated: "We are more respected in Europe than we are over here. Say's it all."
I somehow find that incredibly difficult to comprehend
Not from what's been leaked. Closed shop based on an invite.
But it would CL and we are investing to attain CL so it would screw us, Wolves, Leicester etc. It would destroy the pyramid which allows teams outside top four ambition. Hope their entire teams are injured for the rest of the season.no on is suggesting they are leaving the PL, it is suggesting they ditch the CL for a new competition, with a walled garden for qualification.
In theory this wouldnt undermine the PL
sky were reporting a 20 year lock-in for the founder members (12) - the remainder based on league positions
So all domestic leagues just instantly redundant... incredible
They only see dollar signs and NFL money making-like ‘exhibitions’. As do most modern football owners these days. More so yanks. Yanks are the worst. Apologies to any of our USA based Evertonians - I like you, just not your money grabbing billionaires.
So after the shambles of project Big Picture last week, we have this nonsense. What will next week’s big idea be from Europe’s most popular club?
It’s hilarious to suggest they’re rivals. They’re basically the same club. The Glazers and Fenway will have a collection of plans to protect and exploit their "franchise"
Two of the most feared rivals for many a decade getting into bed together to make bank.
The fact their fans can even contemplate the two teams cuddling up together in a snuggly European competition and plotting how to make as much money as possible should be cause for concern.
They may as well share a stadium in Dubai
The point I make, and perhaps should have explained in more detail, is that it would happen on a massive scale. No longer would the club/the player be able to fend off approaches such as happened with Baines, for example, and in more recent times Grealish staying with Villa. Those days would be gone in an instant..
And to your second paragraph, yes the invesment in billions in the Super League would mean they could.
I got a lot of stick here last week, for saying Big Picture was step 1 on a journey for these clubs & they will be happy with the outcome of confirmed Strategic review. Yes, there was embarrassment caused by the vote, but they have literally zero shame.
This is the next step & is obviously related to two weeks ago. My guess is they wanted to door of strategic review open before announcing this & the 2 (actually 5 or 6, some with more tact), the next question is what next
I think you have probably misread what has occured.
Project Big start has failed, and while they may get demands, they are in a worse position than 3 weeks ago.
This is either the consequence of that failure- and them perhaps seeing the PL won't be moved, or alternatively it is a bluff. What I will say, is we have been promised details in 10 days, if thats not forthcoming, it's a bluff.
The other issue, is yes there's a strategic reiview, but one which was officially stated "in the interests of 20 clubs" which is about as far away from what they want as possible, which is seen, quite rightly and nakedly as their own self interest. Once you lose the jargon and politeness it is saying "we will have a review to stop you to getting what you want."
There are lots of different possibilities with this. Again I'm pointed that only 2 teams have put their name to it. If there is a bidder with 4.6bn to their name, people will be very tempted to jump. Worth noting DAZN recently had 1bn to put into boxing. They ar currently almost bankript and being sued by one of their biggest attractions. Having the ambition to build something massive, and being able to pull it off like Sky/PL have done are different things.
