Nah he wanted Dumfries, Eggs. The club did, manager did, was all signed off on our end if we could get the funds. We couldn't, because we don't have them.
Surely our accountant owner would have known exactly if we could have afforded him or not. Player has half decent Euros Everton need a RB journalists run with it.

And this is where I just cant agree mate. Im not bothered how highly rated a player is unless you are coming in to replace Seamus Coleman not rotate/understudy him then I dont want them quite frankly.

Our fans did the same last season when Coleman started off well and give it a few more games and they'll be saying the same as they have done for the past 3 seasons that he needs replacing.
What's the alternative? We don't have any money to buy an experienced replacement who will be an upgrade on Coleman now.

Coleman can still do a job if he is used sparingly and rested. Hopefully Patterson hits the ground running and it works out that Coleman is his understudy rather than the other way around. But one thing is for certain, we ain't getting a top drawer experienced right back for £5m mate, No chance. We can take our chances on an unproven 24 year old Portuguese guy from the Belgian league if you like, but I'd rather take my punt on the 19 yo Scot who still has the vast majority of his development years in front of him, not behind.

Benitez wants them because thats his budget mate.

Its like buying an Aldi pork chop over an Aldi pack of sausages - doesn't mean I wanted that Aldi pork chop if I could have afforded that fine M&S Pheasant that Silva, Koeman and Ancelotti were able to buy.
That reminds me.....must prepare shopping list for tomorrow. Thanks for that ;)

True mate.

We'd have to pay a fair whack for the lad still, so we'll see won't we.

I don't think it'd have been the idea for a lot of people heading into this window though.
No it wouldn't I agree. But we all thought we had money to spend then.

It's taken a while but I think the penny has finally dropped for most of us that we're skint, so we'll take what we can. It is what it is.

Throw a loan with an option/obligation to buy next summer as there are plenty of top Euro clubs skint after the pandemic needing to shift players by the windows end.

Even players like Trippier who doesn't look like he's off to Utd could be an option with Aletico in over €800 million debt and needing to shift a few players.

I have no problems signing this Scottish lad for a few quid for the future but we need someone in that starting 11 for the bulk of this season that isn't Coleman.

Agree. Plus, last season it was all about the"wall". So, with Godfrey and holgate also able to fill in when needed, it looks good. He's got chances to play but without unnecessary pressure of being expected to be number one (or 2 in this case) week in week out.

Nope, we wanted him and were in for him. Got nothing to do with journo BS.

Our accountant owner has pumped so much good money after bad that we are right up to the brink with FFP. It's well documented.
