We were so damn good at times tonight, we looked like a serious team but unfortunately it wasn't our night. We did more than enough to win, and if Rom's first half effort hits the post and sneaks in I think we run away comfortable 2-0 winners.

Let's just say if we'd came out of that with the win that we deserved, I'd have been far too excited and probably be having thoughts of a title push in the back of my mind. So for expectation's sake it's probably good job we didn't!

Can't really knock the performance overall.

I'm glad they didn't panic at 0-1, and kept passing the ball and going through Deulofeu. He really is something special.

It's a shame that the Mirallas situation has been allowed to deteriorate to this point, because Kone was looking less than mobile again. Regardless of how much people try to paint him as some Drenthe or van der Meyde type, Mirallas is one of only two reliable goalscorers in the squad, and he could have contributed if more was done to keep him involved.

Coleman MOTM for me. He was incredible.

So darn good??, well sometimes and it is good to watch, but Title push?? Dream on...we'll do well to get the 7th-ish Trophy.

We were also so darn bad as well, Howard won't come off his line, we all seem to mark space and nobody attacks the ball... and then there's our corners...when we get it past the first man.
Oh and Subs or rather the lack of.

So if Martinez is responsible for the 'So darn good' bit
whose fault is all the poor stuff
when will whoever it is put his hand up
when will anything be done to change these bad bits

Or are we forever going to be...just 3 good players away from being a good side...and other excuses.

3 things I noticed (having not yet read the pages of opinions on this thread):

- I thought Deulofeu played pretty poor: many of our attacks went through him, he was an easy outlet pass on the right wing, but I thought his crossing and decision making was pretty poor. He got A LOT of repetitions tonight “quantity not quality” it was imo.

- I was impressed with Cleverly, especially his central positioning and link play, rather mature performance I thought.

- Martinez had one to forget… he was not at all proactive. Baines should have started and there should have been more subs made at the 70ish minute mark (like Miralles on).

Is it FIFA or Football Manager that influences you most mate?

I thought we played well and ive just seen 1 of the best saves ive ever seen from the cleverly shot. I'm quite impressed by the response on this thread as well.most people can see were playing some great stuff but just letting ourselves down slightly defensively.
I can't wait for the next game to see more of the same

Neither i'm afraid! My eyes influence me and this is what I made of the game. Feel free to disagree with what I said though - debate is what forums are for. Unfortunately though, in your case, cheap shots and petty replies are all but useless.
Anyone watching that and judging that Deulofeu was "pretty poor" tonight is very much worth both a petty reply and cheap shot.
