Cardiff took Liverpool to the brink....to the very brink.
Cardiff.
I dont think we need to examine the performance of our players - and most of all, our manager - any more closely than that, tbh.
That may be more to do with those C U N T S getting us banned from europe than us ****ing ourselves over.
Heysel is an easy target - it was the same for everyone - being at the top of the tree we were better placed than most.
The theory we lost players to euro footballing clubs hence our demise ignores what we did with the incoming transfer fees.
A very camp excuse for those who ream holes.
I got home, a few hours ago. It has taken until now to turn laptop on, and in truth the only reason I did it was because I cant talk, I am physically and emotionally drained. So I performed above and beyond the call of duty and I am a few quid lighter, however I wonder how many of the players feel like I /we do right now? there is not enough passion in this squad, there arent many that I would be interested in watching again.
Tactically and particularly against the RS Moyes is terrible, it is time for the kids to get a chance all this wrapping them up and looking after them bollocks is a joke. If Ross Barklay is good enough get him in the ****ing team now. Sick of it, same old get you up then throw you down faster.
Thanks to all the fellow fans, I was proud to be part of it with you. When people took pictures of my banner at the Green Man and then on the Wembley steps I had a tear of pride and passion......shame the players didnt share our passion.
You're joking?
We couldn't attract the same calibre players due to the lack of European football. We broke up the spine of our squad due to no European football. There was absolutely no way we could compete effectively, and by the time the ban was lifted the look of the league had changed - those that hadn't been challenging for Europe beforehand had been able to keep the nucleus of the side and capitalise when the ban was lifted.
Heysel was pretty much the sole reason for our demise in the late 80s. As in about 95% of the reason. This was in an era before the Premier League and the mad money involved.
Imagine Barcelona and Real Madrid being banned from European football for five years now. The whole side would collapse within 12 months and Spanish football itself would become a pariah. They wouldn't come close to winning anything again in Europe for about 15 years due to the rebuilding they'd have to do.
Heysel literally destroyed Everton. It denied us European football for four consecutive seasons.
A camp excuse?
Please list the names of those clubs in the division who didn't have the same constraints.
Perhaps I misunderstood the ban, were Arsenal or Utd allowed clemency or something?
I await the list with interest.
They weren't the best in Europe at the time.
Hard luck Everton, I hope you manage to win a trophy next season, you deserve it.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere today. Great banter on the way up to Wembley and no aggro whatsoever in the stadium; I didn't hear any of the distasteful chants that I've heard at Anfield and Goodison in recent years which is great. All of the blues I encountered seemed to have taken the defeat very graciously. I was disappointed to see some of our fans uttering needless taunts on Wembley way after the match but otherwise it was the friendliest Merseyside derby I've ever attended and it was an absolute privilege.
Distin's mistake killed you, I felt you were more than comfortable up to that point.
Commiserations guys.
