Huh. Fellaini's eyebrows as bushy as his hair. :)

Just back from the game and a couple of bevvies thereafter, blame any typos on the Vermont brew.

There were lots of Everton fans at this game - I cannot understand why we donlt sell Everton merchandise at these games, we would ahve cleaned up. I would estimate at leats 4,000 Toffees at the game, perhaps more.

First half, Cahill looked brillinat in central mid. He bossed the game, was almost Xavi-esque in terms of being available for short passes. Alas, many of our guys seemed unwilling to use the option he provided. I thought Timmy looked more effective in this position than Arteta has for over a year.

Barkley - must be the most confient 17 year old around - and with good reason. I see why Cahill rates him so highly.

Vic looked good for 28 minutes then seemed to run out of steam. Bily played the best I've seen for the first 25, then reverted to giving the ball away. Rodwell - OK, but nothing special.

Second half - Gueye looked decent, took his chance well. Heitinga looked like the best CD on display for the 35 minutes (or so ) he was on. Becks is sooooooooooo frustrating, how many times does he make the wrong decision, he's been taking Faddy lessons - and then he sets up Gueye magnificently.

It was so hot & humid in DC today that I'm amazed anyone could run at all out there. Under the circumstances, very good display.

For the record, this was the first time my wife and daughter saw Everton score live (2 previous games we lost 1-0). What odds could I have got on Vic & Bily being the goalscorers?

just got back from the game. it was awesome to see how many everton fans showed up! respect to timmy cahill for coming back out and meeting with the fans who stayed behind

He's scored 7 goals in three different seasons, 04-05, 07-08 and 08-09, 75% of those games have come from a wide position. Cahill plays alot higher up the pitch, basically as a second striker. It's an unfair comparison really.

We're looking at league goals to keep it simple. Ossie played behind Beckford towards the tail end of last season. His general play was very good and he got lots of chances, but he fluffed quite a lot of them. Which game was it where he should have easily had a hattrick and in the end he was lucky to get one? I'm not having a pop at Leon. I'm saying that he couldn't step up and fill Tim's boots.

Right so I fell asleep just after Gueye scored so here are my thoughts:

Vellios - to be fair to the lad he didn't get great service. Can't judge him yet as he's a striker but we didn't give him any chances. Still prime candidate for name on my new shirt! Showed nice touches bit also gave ball away a bit.

Barkley - Defo promising. Not sure what position will be best for him but he will be brill.

Conor whatsit - I thought we'd bought Michael Owen circa 1997 when he came on. I think it will go one of two ways with him. He will be a huge hit or he'll be playing for Stockport in 5 years time.

Anichebe - was ok - took goal well and then said the word 'season' 17 times in his after match interview.

Bily - oh Bily - I wish you were good - lost the ball countless times but took goal well.

Gueye - looks good to be fair - defo gives us something different.

Coleman - I thought he did well at right back.

Jags and Distin - bit worried how often they were caught out with balls over the top. This was DC United not Man Utd FFS.

Pontius - sign him up FFS

To summarise.... Didn't see anything new or different apart from Barkley

Oh and the lack of Everton merchandise over their being shocking. Good going bill

I can see going into next season the team set up exactly like last season, complete with the same problems

He did, but he seemed to have a shoot on sight mentality, and alot of those chances he was taking from distance. I think if he kept that up for a full season he'd give you a decent return. Anything from 7-10 goals a season depending on how much he played there.

I think it was the Villa game your talking about.
