Pretty decent mate. Second half better than first but important to remember it was City who are dead good. They had most of the play but hardly tested Robles really.

It wouldn't have been totally unjust had we nicked it. But they could probably say the same.

All in had the right ideas. And right spirit. So yes. Positives were there.

BUT and its an important one. We didn't win, and haven't won for bloody ages.

Cheers mate. At least we have stopped the rot so hopefully we have turned some form of corner. Agreed though, we need wins and need them fast. Not because we are 3 points above relegation zone but because if it carries on we will be stuck on no man's land. 10 points behind the RS and they are only 8th so that's a fair slog to catch up to that kind of position. Still, let's smash West Ham first Tuesday to prepare for beating West Brom ;)

Much more like it. Today we finally resembled everton of last season. High tempo, pressing off the ball, moving the ball forward quickly and making it uncomfortable for our opponents.

We had to ride a couple of storms, which is to be expected, but we looked so much calmer in defence, which is what the presence of john stones brings. After a couple of nervy touches in the first half, Jagielka settled down and did what he is best at: defending.

Coleman got forward more than he has in recent games and was unfortunate not to score when he hit the bar. Baines didn't get forward much but he defended very well. Besic and barry again had some nervy touches but I thought they grew into the game. Maybe barry has been carrying a knock? He seems to be finding some form.

Barkley was quiet. City did a job on him and it worked, he didn't have much space to work in. McGeady put a shift in but he's so inconsistent and frustrating, fair play though he did a job defensively. Naismith did what he does best, harass, win headers, keep the ball moving. Lukaku was great again and brought some good saves from hart.

Overall a good win and performace. Robles didn't have much to do which shows how well the players in front of him played. Onwards and upwards blues!

Moral victory.

Agree with everything else though.

The spine of a team is so important, and the new Robles, Stones, Besic and (rejuvenated) Lukaku axis seems to be making a difference. We've had so many injuries and out of form players that it would be ideal for these players - along with McCarthy for Barry - to have a long run in the side, and the likes of Coleman, Baines, Mirallas etc. being inspired by them to improve their game. There does seem to be a new (and overdue) positivity in the camp this week. Let's hope they keep it going, and we can progress in the cups, and league.
The defence seems a tad more assured with Stones there, and with Seamus having a partner to work with, he looked a lot more like his old self. As for McGeady, he is a real conundrum: a gifted attacking player who can't seem to get that side of his game right, but appears to be a solid auxiliary defender when Coleman's on the rampage. If only Ross could up his work rate, and contribute more to his game on the left, he would earn more appreciation from us fans.
Anyway, a lot more fight and from now on, let's all hope it's onwards and upwards in 2015

Looks like our confidence grew massively in the second half

City's goal couldn't have had more luck the jammy beauts

The last 15 minutes against arsenal was awful.

Today we we're generally good all over especially in the second half.

Get that elusive win on the board and I can see us rising up the table
Hope so. Certainly looked like have got a bit of confidence back. Need 3 points from the next game

Lets just get safe and focus on the cups. Maybe towards the end of the season we can blood some of the kids like Browning, Galloway and Henen. I'm not expecting anything more than that. But lets get safe first.

Missed the game as I was in work and my bloody phone basically died on me at ht. How did we play today folks, good performance? plenty of positives?

concentration an work rate was phenomenol mate , very pleasing
the most pleasing aspect of the whole performance... the scoreline dosent reflect
the way we played, very good all round performance, if we got the second goal
it would of been our game, thats what goals do get the momemtum,

kicking on looking a stronger unit through such a diffucult period lid
