Everton Youth Teams Thread

@england: FT Holland 1-1 England U17s. It finishes all-square in the Young Lions' second group match of the Euros

Currently top the table with 4 points, Italy 3, Holland 2 and Ireland 1.

Face Ireland on Wednesday

Match report, sounds like the Dutch are teaching their kids some Robben tricks ;)http://www.thefa.com/news/england/development/2015/may/holland-report-100515#aKdPrLxWeVRjbaxL.99

A minute later the scores were level, although it arrived in controversial fashion. Arnold looked to have pulled out of a challenge on De Wit as the Dutch attacker crumpled to the floor in a heap – but the referee thought otherwise and pointed to the penalty spot. Boultam placed down the ball and converted to even the score.

James Yates had an excellent game and was a contender for mam of the match. Like the first game , he was bombing down the right flank supporting the forwards, but tonight he was actually taking people on and beating them . He showed wing- back skills I hadn't seen from him before, very impressive. His defence was sound too. I thought he may miss the link up with Nathan Holland who wasn't playing , but if anything it seemed to give him more opportunity to get further forward. He slowed down considerably and not unexpectedly in the last quarter. As a comparison with Jonjoe Kenny playing same position in same tournament last year I'd say he showed more attacking intent than Kenny, but Kenny had it in defensive skills.
In the first match , the England left back DaSilva was very good and looked a class act. Tonight Yates was the one getting the ball and getting forward. Shame they didn't bring Holland on, he'd have done well running against a tiring team , but hopefully he'll play next game and maybe Tom Davies will return.
England will be favourites to top their group as their final game is against Ireland who have drawn one , and lost one so far.

As has already been written an excellent win for the under 18's again.

We are resisting the temptation to draft back in the players who've moved up to the reserves. Ledson, Kenny, Walsh, Dowell, Connoly, Williams etc are not playing, which is a bit of a surprise as they would be eligible to. Added to Yates, Holland & Davies who are currently on international duty.

There are a couple of under 16's who are performing very well, one in particular looks a good prospect.

This is the best set of young players we've had since at least 1998 and arguably better than that group. To win consecutive leagues is some achievement. You may have to go back as far as the 60's. Exciting times ahead.

this is everton though
Where do city play there u18 games

Well exactly. What is noticeable with the current crop compared to say the 90's generation is just how quickly we are moving them through the youth teams and into the reserves. Unsworths quotes on this are fascinating, in that it's not about results but a real focus on player development.
