These guys are 16 ?
that was a very nice article on Dobbin the other day. It did concern me he struggled when moved up to u23 and moved back down. But so far he fits the criteria of a potential first teamer.. playing an age group ahead and plays for his national side.
Yeah read that. The positive is that him and Onyango actually featured at all as they were both 16 then , Gordon didn’t feature at all in the U23s as a first year. Onyango is a bit more physically developed, well height wise anyway, both will fill out . Brands watches the u16s and u18s I’m pretty sure he’s “encouraged” Unsworth to get the best youngsters involved earlier .
How old are Onyango and Dobbin now?
Also how old are the group with Thierry Small -- 16?
Seems like a high potential few players there...

I’ve got higher hopes than usual for this lot, but I think that every year. It’s hard to pick the standouts, last year it was Onyango and Dobbin, Astley the year before that . Reece Welch had the most u18 appearances I think , plus his England caps and looks about 6 foot 2/3 ins already and a decent prospect, the other defender Eli Campbell is not much smaller with a good left foot . Thierry Small at left back has been discussed on here previously , skilfull player for a full back. Martin Waldron , our ex Academy boss , singled out Kouyate and Isaac Price as his most promising players recently. Luke Butterfield has played u18. The one whose caught my eye is Charlie Whitaker in midfield , he looks like he’s got drive , energy and capable of scoring goals.
Looking forward to seeing what kouyate can do for the u18s this season seeing he's the only forward in the group
Small seems quite a muscular chap. He was very talented in the clip I saw of him, and with his frame he Has a chance to be mixing it sooner rather than later.. one to watch

Yeh think I mentioned before on here I hope he has some defending ability because in YouTube clips he's more like a winger than leftback
Onyango and Dobbin year above, this year better.
Butterfield is a really good player. Central midfield player, tall rangey. Small spoken about a fair bit. Isaac Price one to watch too, plays off the front and they play through him quite a bit.
I think Dobbin has big potential. Like Gordon, does things that will translate well upwards, quick and skillful as well as having an eye for a goal.
We have alot of players out of contract in the next 2 years. Hopefully Onyango and Dobbin can come through and there seem to be others behind them highly rated.
Very good opportunity over the next 2 seasons for a squad place.
I like Dobbin as ive said in here before, He works for the team, scores goals, doesnt stand still and goes looking for the ball,He probably trys to hard to impress, he try's those little runs behind the back 3/4/5 waiting for the through ball to be played etc,
Onyango we know about, well the ones that watch him and co
