Everton Youth Teams Thread

Pretty much as expected , Lowey, McIntyre and Thompson didn’t make much of an impact this season . It seems Liam Higgins‘ injury has been taken into account similar to Kieran Phillips a few years ago with a Scholarship extension. For Phillips it allowed him to play overage in the u18s , so presumably Higgins will do the same. He’s looked good enough to move up to U23s , think he had at least one appearance before his injury , and really that has to be his aim , get into the U23s and secure a pro contract.

As previously mentioned in the Athletic, wouldn’t be surprised if we signed Crusaders midfielder Jack Patterson.

Recently followed by a couple of the 18s on Instagram. Also follows Everton along with an Everton fan page & a dozen of the current youth players.

Looks a talent, already played twice for the first team at just 15-years-old, however wouldn’t be able to sign as a scholar until next year.

Bellinghams brother (?) there from birmingham and also Feeney at Fleetwood.

I mentioned a week or so ago that its surprising the England youth players arent always getting picked off by the top sides.
Good luck trying to get Jobe out of Birmingham. Probably an even harder task than getting Jude would've been.

Feeney seems to have plenty of clubs circling atm

Is Jobe rated as highly as Jude was?

Must be a big question to answer at their age...do they stay for the rapid progress or take a guaranteed pot of gold at a bigger club.

Wouldn't say as highly rated in that I wouldn't expect him to be a full England international by 17 but he's captained England at every youth level so far and will most likely make his Championship debut next season. Just more good luck prying him loose with Birmingham 'retiring' his brothers number and such the family seems Birmingham through and through.

Yeah it's a tough one who can blame them with what top clubs offer both financially and coaching wise for leaving but more seem willing to stay a bit longer now. like Branthwaite coming through Carlisle, but they're still by far the outliers.

My memory is failing me now but sure years back someone on here spoke of us having a strong bunch of Welsh kids. What age group would they be now? (If they're not already gone). Possibly Hughes and Higgins?

Liverpool knocked WBA out after they had beat us in the1/4 final, I only watched the last twenty five minutes of the Villa vLiverpool game but Villa looked like the better team with some classy looking players, although Liverpool never gave up and went close near the end, Liverpool being Liverpool I expected them to eventually get the equaliser, maybe they used their luck up with the OG, the shot looked like it was going wide before the Villa player guided it in to his own net.

Was this a one off final, they are usually two legged affairs, and did the clubs toss for choice of venue?
Villa knocked West Brom out, not Liverpool.

Liverpool’s u18 youth side, like ours, is not great and both over achieved going as far as they did IMO. Liverpool’s had a reasonable draw though and apart from United they didn’t beat anyone I wouldn’t expect them to. We on the other hand were given very, very hard draws in every round including a very good Wigan team to start, City, Chelsea before eventually falling to a good West Brom side.

Villa and City are far and away the 2 stand out sides in this country at that age group this year. Even Chelsea aren’t particularly strong.

Broadhead came through with a kid called Harrington who was Welsh u16/u17 capt I think. He never made it past his scholarship though.
There might have been another Welsh lad around the same time too

Astley as well, I’m guessing this was the group.
