…I like Welch but he’s English.

I feel like the group spoken about were even younger than Astley.
No, we rarely, if ever sign players at that age group and it’s the area where the other big NW clubs, United, City and Liverpool are leaving us behind.Does anybody know whether Everton make many signings at U15/U16 level? Manchester United looks like they’re about to sign three or four top players in that age bracket yet seems as though we never seem to make any of these signings.
Yes true, Liverpool beat Ipswich in the other semi final, don’t know why I thought Liverpool had beaten WBA, thanks for that.Villa knocked West Brom out, not Liverpool.
Liverpool’s u18 youth side, like ours, is not great and both over achieved going as far as they did IMO. Liverpool’s had a reasonable draw though and apart from United they didn’t beat anyone I wouldn’t expect them to. We on the other hand were given very, very hard draws in every round including a very good Wigan team to start, City, Chelsea before eventually falling to a good West Brom side.
Villa and City are far and away the 2 stand out sides in this country at that age group this year. Even Chelsea aren’t particularly strong.

Between them, these clubs have bought at least 8-10 players for six figure sums, we haven’t paid a fee for any player at the u15s age group, not 1, never mind a 6 figure fee.
The most recent u16 England captain (last week) plays for Fleetwood, the 3 clubs listed above are bidding against each other to get him. We’re not even in the conversation.
We also lost our best u15 to Liverpool a few years back.
With regards to internationals at this age, to put some perspective on it, at least 80 players will get asked to train at an England camp this year as they have them every 2 or 3 months and they basically use them as an opportunity to have a quick look at everyone who’s eligible. No one will attend every camp.
Yes. It ended a bit now and we’ve missed out on a lot of good players since then though.Did we not recently have a 2 year academy transfer ban which would have made it hard to sign anyone?
It was likely me , at one time we had 5 Welsh players in their u15 and u16, Ryan Astley was the captain. Rhys Hughes and Josh Hosie became Scholars at the same time as Astley . Hosie was released without making much of an impact at u18. Liam Higgins is younger and became a Scholar a year after the others but was definitely in the same squad at one time. The fifth member never get a Scholarship , can’t remember his name Ed something I think. My memory is failing me now but sure years back someone on here spoke of us having a strong bunch of Welsh kids. What age group would they be now? (If they're not already gone). Possibly Hughes and Higgins?
He was the first choice u16 goalkeeper for Man City and I’d imagine he will be signing a scholar there as they’ve just released their other u16 keeper who’s now signed for Villa.Does anyone know if a young player called Pierce Charles has signed a scholar with Everton ? [Ive been asked]
Its actually someone from man city [who gets the info from them] who has asked me it a few mins ago, so with that been asked i would think hes not at man city-but off course i dont know, Ive asked him has he left cityHe’s an u16 goalkeeper for Man City and I’d imagine he will be signing a scholar there.

He may have, I’d be surprised though. Pierce had played for Ireland recently and also been involved with England. He’d be a decent signing for us if he’s been released. Its actually someone from man city [who gets the info from them] who has asked me it a few mins ago, so with that been asked i would think hes not at man city-but off course i dont know, Ive asked him has he left city

I haven’t noticed any Welsh / Everton connections in recent years.
Yeh that sounds about right bud. It was ages ago now so to me names like Hughes and Hosie wouldn't have struck a note. Tried searching the word "Wales" to absolutely no avail. lol
Now, second conundrum... same sort of question and it was about a group, or maybe just a couple, of lads that were very highly rated and we had them. They were super young. I feel like they came from that Fletcher Moss Rangers in Manchester? Or were of that sort of level?
this it? 4 years ago, hard to work out what age group they be in now but cant say i've heard the names since.
