Everton Youth Teams Thread

Just as a matter of interest, since League careers were mentioned earlier, here are some of the more recent Academy graduates who are still playing League football:

Kieran Agard - Bristol City
Hope Akpan - Blackburn
Jake Bidwell - Brentford
Victor Anichebe - WBA
James Vaughan - Birmingham City
James Wallace - Shrewsbury Town
Adam Forshaw - Middlesbrough
Shane Duffy - Blackburn
Anthony Gerrard - Oldham
Mark Hughes - Accrington Stanley
Jose Baxter - Sheffield Utd
John Ruddy - Norwich City
Hallam Hope - Carlisle Utd
John Lundstram - Oxford Utd
Matthew Kennedy - Port Vale
Jack Rodwell - Sunderland
Shkodran Mustafi - Valencia
Iain Turner - Tranmere

(Sure I've missed a few there who are still playing. Not sure if you would call Kennedy or Mustafi Academy graduates, to be fair.)
You work hard for the cause thank you.
Dunne-QPR
Dier-Spurs
Long-burnley

In that time we've had Browning make a number of appearances, as well as Garbutt probably getting significant game time.

We have also moved on players like Forshaw for deals running into the million (when you consider the sell on fee) and Duffy likewise. Both pay for the academy for another year.

The reality is we have only brought through 1 world class player in the last five years. We have brought through a number of lads who've played for Everton though.

....I think we have to be careful with the 'world class phrase'. My simple definition of world class is that they would get a game for any team on the planet. I can only think of Alan Ball, Ray Wilson and Neville Southall as definitely in that category during my time although I appreciate a case can be made for the likes of Lineker, Rooney and Kanchelskis.

Admit I may be a touch biased but a World Cup golden boot ahead of Maradona in fine form is to my mind a pretty decent indication of being a world class player ;)

....agree LL, that's why I put him in the 'maybe' category. Loved him for that season, but it was only one season and that probably counts against him as one of the Everton world class players.

Is there a reason dowell has not been sent on loan?if he has played in friendlies and a europa game you would have imagined he was father down the line than some so if not involved with the first team squad why hasn't he been sent on loan?

Tranmere actually aren't in the league any more. Great list this though, still a good number playing at a decent level too.

Ah right forgot that.still though he has been back awhile now and playing very well so was just wondering is all why others have gone out and he hasn't.maybe he is next up:)
He'll probably get a loan soon, I hope so anyway since players don't seem to get near our first team before they've been out on loan and I'm looking forward to Dowell getting a run out.

As I was going through the players for the list above, I noticed Gethin Jones. I assume he's been injured because he was out on loan last season. Antonee Robinson as well who had done well in preseason.
