Everton Youth Teams Thread

He's got something different that's for sure , including great pace with the ball.
We had 5 youngsters play PL minutes last season, and of course they still need to establish themselves so the job is not done yet. If I guessed at another 5 who may get PL mins this season I'd include Evans , but not top of my list . I'd go for Holgate, Walsh, Ledson, Evans, Baningime roughly in that order of guessed at likelihood .

Any other thoughts on " 5 youngsters to get PL minutes this season" , ?

...Walsh seems the most ready to me because of the rave notices he got on loan at Yeovil. Feedback from their fans suggested he was much too good for them and a joy to have at the club. Ledson hasn't really kicked on in open age football and I fear others have overtaken him in the pecking order but there is talent there. Baningame is smashing but he's only just moving up to U21 and it looks like there will be a multitude of defensive midfielders ahead of him.

It's a massive step up to Premier level.

Opposition understandably look very poor there but decent finishes from the lads. Can't work Garbutt out; seems too good for that level whenever I've seen him but not quite PL level yet.

Nice pass from Charsley to Garbutt to set up the first goal, and Sambou's goal was better than the "tap in" I'd expected , but yeah lots of space provided by poor opposition.

Anyone aware of the remaining pre-season fixtures for the U23's? I saw them at Burscough last pre-season, unaware of many of the players faces and only with numbers to go off. Incidentally, Liam Walsh who was one of the ones i'd heard bright things about, had a particularly bad game whereas Tom Davies stood out a mile to me and i found him in the official website as soon as i got in. Admittedly i am much more aware of the players this year, through a bit of research and trawling through the forum, but i would still like to go to a match with an open mind and see the likes of Evans, Baningame and Foulds in the flesh.

I'd probably put Kenny ahead of Evans and Baningime, not only is he older but nobody seems to have claimed the role backup for Coleman.

If anyone wants to see the U23 side (At least I think it's U23 now?) then they'll be playing at Prescot Cables at Volair Park, Prescot this coming Thursday J̶u̶l̶y̶ ̶4̶t̶h̶ August 4th in the final of the 2015/16* Liverpool Senior Cup.

Cables beat Litherland REMYCA 9-0 (nine!) in their semi-final today and will line up against Everton who beat Skelmersdale 4-0 in the other semi-final earlier this week. It's a chance to see some of the young talent in a competitive game and put a few much needed quid in the coffers of a non-league club. The sort of place where young talent can find a way back into the game if it doesn't work out at a bigger club.

*2015/2016? Yes, Cables quarter final against Tranmere was postponed 4 or 5 times due to bad weather and the backlog meant they had to finish the competiton as part of the 2016/2017 pre-season.

Nice one! Will try get down after work. I'm guessing the U23's season commences roughly around the same time as the PL?

Who should be Coleman's first choice cover, Kenny or Davies?

.....I think we have to agree that Kenny is a RB (not a central defender) and as such he's in the queue to cover but much will depend on whether RK thinks he's good enough to step up. If he doesn't then he might well purchase another RB or use the likes of Davies. I'm not sure where Browning is these days but it's probably decision time for a number of our youngsters regarding do they stay or do they go.
