Well, on this forum we've always been cautioned to avoid using the accusation of corruption. I'm not sure that's been changed now so that Moshiris presence is seen in a more beneficent light.

Green being dragged before parliament and accused of corrupt practices at BHS.............enough said

You're questioning the man after 5 months with no foundation to an argument, all because the transfers have happened late. Totally disregardingthings like players stringing us along, koeman himself wanting to look at the squad before knowing what he wants. It's a weak argument.

And unfortunately davenport there are people on here who expected to see Messi and Ronaldo holding up everton shirts
That's too simplistic. No one is expecting Messi or a stadium.

It would be nice to know Moshiri's plans for the future, it seems he wants to do business quietly without dramatics. Fair enough.
I think more could have been invested into the squad this summer but I'm not sure how true the whole £100 million pound war chest is/was. More than likely a media outlet running with a fake story.
The club must be modernised under Moshiri, new and better sponsorships and working on the image and profile of the club on and off the field.
Lots of talk about a new stadium but I've heard it before, might be pessimistic but I won't be holding my breath.
I'd love to be proven wrong on all counts but less talk and more action please Everton.

It is difficult of course because we have been promised so much in the past and been constantly let down. (Fortress fund is in the post etc.)

We've had to become almost rock like to take the abuse from non blue friends and colleagues. I think that has left most of us suspicious and even though the plans look to be coming to fruition there is always still the niggling doubts that at any point the trap door could be swung open beneath our feet again.

I hear what you are saying with the communication issues, but even if he said I'm going to do x/y and z, while we are in the lull that we are currently in, where it seems we will miss out on the big big players and the stadium plans are still being worked on people would be gunning for him even more.

Heaven forbid if he said I'm going to get the stadium in on the docks and then it turned out peel wouldn't play ball. Riots!!

This does feel different this time we just need to summon the last bit of faith we have that he is the man for the job. Might not be perfect but he will do his best.

It's now about supporting whoever is on the pitch after the window shuts and hope they can grab a european finish. At the moment we are like Primark going after Harrods shoppers, most footballers weren't even born when we were anything. We need to see where we are after we get to that stage, only then can we really start to judge.
Good post mate. I can accept that logic. One thing though: Whether plans can or can't be revealed and in how much/little detail, there was no attempt to dampen down the fires of huge expectation. That could have been done with ease, but I suspect the new regime were reluctant to do that for whatever reason. Have they been enjoying the adulation a bit too much? Have those promoting them amongst other fans gone a bit too far in whipping up a fever around our short term possibilities?

How is that a straw man when that very accusation has been levelled in one form or another all over this thread?

Where has anyone said the critics want a spade in the ground next week? If you cant find a quote, then you have to be honest that you made a straw man argument. You argued against a position that doesn't exist, by exaggerating one that did.

You accused others of exaggerating the position of one side. "Most people aren't remotely near the 'he's a fraud' category, but it's taken that way. It's all a bit too precious and sensitive. Straw men are being put up to be knocked down because genuine questions appear to be unwanted or embarrassing." You said people that had exaggerated criticism to "hes a fraud" were using a straw man. Therefore you must agree with most definitions that a straw man is often taking one argument, and exaggerating it to an absurd position much easier to defeat. Then you take arguments that others used to criticize the critics, and claimed they were saying "that anyone uneasy with the situation is wanting £100M spent and a spade in the ground down the docks next week?". But no one said that, you exaggerated it to an absurd position much easier to defeat. So thats the very same definition of a straw man that you used.
