It's going to be an interesting summer. The pressure's being ratcheted up on Mosh to finally deliver the much mooted war chest with Elstone's public assertion, repeated suggestions from RK and now even the Echo saying it's time to deliver.

"Everton fans expect – and why it's all on Farhad Moshiri this summer

Blues are talking big but it will be down to one man to ensure actions speak louder than words

Gone is the vibe of austerity, replaced instead by a more prosperous outlook, whether that be on the field, in the transfer market or, indeed, the very bricks and mortar of the club.

Supporters, even those understandably sceptical after myriad false dawns, are daring to dream again.

Expectation can be a dangerous business. Regular readers will know that, for longer than we care to remember, this column has pointed out that when opportunity has knocked for the Blues, they have almost always gone scampering behind the sofa rather than race to open the door.

Now, with a feelgood factor buzzing around Goodison and a return to Europe tantalisingly within reach, Everton once again stand at the crossroads.

This time is different, however.

Yes, there will be demands on the players that remain for next season to build on the progress of this campaign.

Yes, much focus will be on what Ronald Koeman delivers with what will be a squad relying more heavily on players of his choosing.

But the onus will primarily be on one man.

Farhad Moshiri."

Elizabeth France 'Mrs Everton' foreshadowed the Chinese investment rumours currently circulating.
Interestingly, in the same interview, she also foreshadows the mooted move to office space in the Liver building recently jointly bought by Mosh.
'To add the best people for the job, we need to improve the work-place at Goodison... Surely it’s time to embrace... an Everton Centre or at least rent attractive office space in the city centre for our admin team.'

Find it strange the echo starting to question the board, when they gave kenwright a free reign
Mosh must have forgot to send them the regular gift hamper at Christmas.
A welcome, if small, change of tone from them. I know they've never wanted to rock the boat too much but it would be good to see them provide more critical oversight of the boards activities on behalf of the fans.

great read that thanks for posting mate ;)

It's such a weird takeover in that so much has been mooted and promised yet we simply don't know what way it's going to go or how big the potential for us is.

You have on one end a stadium in the pipeline and a relatively decent spend last 2 windows but on the other scale we've had numerous targets turn us down and not spent on fees or wages the sort of money that backs up the press gushing of Moshiri being the game changer so to speak.

My own opinion is he'll invest enough for us to stay around 7th with a regular push for the 5th/6th places but to push on in terms of having the finances to do a Chelsea/City we'll need him to sell us on down the line to a Chinese Govt backed group/ oligarch/Shiekh. The new stadium and Liverpool waters project certainly increases the possibility of that but I think the next 1-2 seasons will be one of slight frustration til we wait for that scenario to hopefully come about.

It's not what we were told would happen.

It looked like last summer's pursuit of Koeman and the talk that went with it of major signings were going to be a clean break from the past. The reality is that we dont operate any differently and we have pretty much the same people in charge making decisions. The squad had less of a net spend 'lavished' on it than under Kenwright in the last few seasons (as we operated a sell to buy summer window as per usual...and we will do again this summer too), the stadium plan is still ill-defined and more broad brush stroke than some of our other fools errand stadium schemes of the past, the commercial activity of the club is still in a state of retardation.

It all feels very familiar.

A very close friend of mine, has worked for 25 years in the steel industry and has links to the main people in charge of Everton, he has been told that Bill was only kept on in superficial terms, he has no say, Bill thinks he is in his position to offer advice, in reality he is a complete patsy.

What I have seen and heard is very promising.
