It is funny Moshiri seems to be getting a lot of scrutiny from the Echo yet they never batted an eyelid at the old regime.

As if you needed confirmation that it's a Kopite rag. They're terrified we'll overtake their team.
What scrutiny have the Echo given?

Cant say I've noticed. Last time I looked at what those semi-literates were writing it was all about how great it was Moshiri was getting a part ownership of the Liver Building.

They're puppets. Moshiri's puppets every bit as much as they were Kenwright's.

If it happens then it's all good. But until then scepticism is not exactly irrational.

Absolutely.

But to this observer, things have/were obviously spinning behind the scenes before any of us had even heard of the bloke. In a football village like Liverpool, that alone takes some doing.

One of the few things I actually know a little bit about is commercial property investment and all that. This whole scheme, ground, Liverpool Waters, Liver Building, fits a pretty well worn path for regen projects.

Thats the end game in all this. We just happen to be the kick start vehicle.

IMO, thats what turned Moshiris head. But he 100% has to deliver the ground, or the rest will either fail, (unlikely, long term), or be delayed. A lot.

He certainly isnt a benefactor. He falls into the enabler camp to me.
I'm curious if you believe Mosh isn't a benefactor then do you believe the big war chest talk and Mosh's claim of a 60m player bid simply isn't true or, if you believe it, then where do you think the money's coming from?
Personally I've been very impressed with the acquisition of RK and BMD both the expensive and difficult options as well as forgoing interest on £80m.
However both transfer windows have effectively been sell to buy considering what we expect to recoup on Del, Niasse and Clev.
I'm sceptical about this summer but still have my fingers crossed we'll finally see substantial net investment.

Exactly
What was Canary Wharf like 40 yrs ago ?
I remember Dublin Docklands 30 yrs ago and it wasn't pretty.
Waterfront living / working / socialising/shopping has taken off worldwide and all these city centre dock land areas are prime real estate
As you said we are only the anchor and the catalyst in a much bigger picture.
If Moshiri and his mates make a few hundred million I don't really care as long as we get a new stadium we can readily afford and investment in the squad

He isnt a benefactor in that he has not rode into town and emptied his wallet into the clubs bank account. Not generally what accountants do.

One of Hawksbee or Jacobs coined a good line about it while. "Everton is the last big takeover to happen in the PL". Now take that in a football club context alone, and they are right. Then lob in the whole Liverpool Waters development, the, from "no where" LCC guaranteeing funders thing, the Liver Building purchase, and the Usnamov rumours that just wont go away, China too apparently.

You now have a man who is enabling the key part, the ground, to happen to kick start the whole thing. Money, a lot of it, is heading Liverpools way, (the City, obvs), and Moshiri is making that happen. Why Joe is wetting himself, and why Moshiri bought the Liver Building, sort of.

Basically, an awful lot of very rich folk are trusting Moshiri to do the spade work, imo.

Have to agree totally.
We don't and will never know the full picture
It's how millionaires become billionaires.

It's not what we were told would happen.

It all feels very familiar.

By who, or are you using sources like the Mirror to boost your argument? Because this is what Moshiri actually first said when he arrived:

http://www.evertonfc.com/news/2016/03/11/message-from-farhad-moshiri

"There is much to be done and things for me to learn, but I can confirm that I have committed to providing additional funds for transfers and retaining our key players to ensure that we have a strong core to build on for the future.

We will also be looking at the best options in relation to our stadium. Goodison Park has served the club extremely well but we need to make sure the club has a suitable stage to perform on for the future. We will review the best options and how to finance, especially as it is likely to cost a little more than the £3,000 it apparently did back in 1892"

Admittedly, the transfer window didn't live up to expectation, however, it has clearly done enough to get us back in to the top 7 which was the realistic aim for this season. The man who has helped achieve that is Koeman, who Moshiri went all out for and brought in from a club with European Football. We robbed City blind for Stones and we held on to Lukaku who has gone on to be the leading goalscorer in the entire league. He then goes on to mention looking at the best options in relation to the Stadium.

He has set us up to be moving in to a 55,000+ seater stadium in one of the most iconic locations this country has to offer.

So what exactly were you expecting from his first 14 months here given that we finished 11th the previous 2 seasons? It seems to me like you're using the fact that the Stadium hasn't been built yet to buy yourself some more time so that you can keep posting negatively about him with no one able to challenge you when you know such a big and complex deal will inevitably take time.

I'd love to know what it is that Moshiri could do in the next year that's realistic that would make you give him some credit. But I doubt you'll respond or I suspect you will mention something that's not realistic so that you can carry on with this belief that we're still in the same position we were under Kenwright and Martinez 2 years ago.

I think you've constructed a compelling narrative. Mosh's involvement in the Liver purchase proves his interest extends beyond EFC.
There are two things that stand out though. Firstly, you avoided my question. If you're right that Mosh isn't a benefactor how do you reconcile that with his claim that we bid 60m for one player something only a tiny number of clubs have done?
Secondly, if Mosh is motivated by a wider investment opportunity in the docks then surely he'll be highly enthusiastic about pursuing a CWG bid? The mayor and LCC will do the work and it has the potential to generate vast capital investment into the area and fast track development through planning not to mention a huge reduction in stadium costs.

Do I believe we bid £60m for a footballer? Yeah. How formal that bid was mind, I havnt a clue. Didnt the owner of the other club confirm it anyrate?

CGT? Commonwealth Games I assume. Sorry, just dont see any link between Liverpool Waters/EFC and any CG bid personally. The long game the docks development is, and the folk I assume to be involved, wont be that arsed. If the bid comes off, (dubious), fine. If it doesnt. Song remains the Same.

Thanks for posting that original statement mate. As you can see from it his assurances about providing additional funds for players has been proven hollow and so too the commitment to retaining our best players if, as expected, either one or both of Lukaku and Barkley join Stones out the door in his first 12 months or so in control.

Because in my opinion he's looking at the big picture long term.
He ( or Usmanov ) owns a major share in Everton and to protect that investment
he had to make sure we get a stadium that is a football stadium that appeals to fans and players alike.
He has seen the shambles that is West Ham's ground and the money City had to pump into the Ethiad to make it fit for purpose , and he won't make the same mistake.
As was said previously the stadium is the Anchor and the catalyst for the whole project and that has to right.
Moshiri is not worried about getting investment from the Government or the council.
He has a list of Billionaire mates , contacts and investors lining up for a piece of the pie.
The 24 million Corestate invested in the Liver building was tiny compared to the normal level of their investments.

He has sanctioned a £140k pw contract for Rom. Cant force him to sign it.

Granted, the Barkley situation is rather odd mind.

Who expects Lukaku or ROSS to leave this summer.
Certainly not RK or Moshiri.
