Thanks for posting that original statement mate. As you can see from it his assurances about providing additional funds for players has been proven hollow and so too the commitment to retaining our best players if, as expected, either one or both of Lukaku and Barkley join Stones out the door in his first 12 months or so in control.

He said key players Dave, not best players. Given the massive freedom from FFP selling Stones allowed, and given his 'style of defending' it's not unreasonable to suggest that the management team did not view him as a key player to retain.

Absolutely.

But to this observer, things have/were obviously spinning behind the scenes before any of us had even heard of the bloke. In a football village like Liverpool, that alone takes some doing.

One of the few things I actually know a little bit about is commercial property investment and all that. This whole scheme, ground, Liverpool Waters, Liver Building, fits a pretty well worn path for regen projects.

Thats the end game in all this. We just happen to be the kick start vehicle.

IMO, thats what turned Moshiris head. But he 100% has to deliver the ground, or the rest will either fail, (unlikely, long term), or be delayed. A lot.
Everton is part of a bigger business opportunity. We should not assume for a moment that one night, while watching MOTD, he suddenly thought, "I think I'll throw some cash at those boys in the blue, I like the cut of their jib, and that fellow at the theater the other night, what was his name? Ken White or something, seems like a nice chap."
This is more about building wealth. It's what billionaires do. They tend to be good at it, as they never risk touching their own money. Instead, they use their wealth as both a magnet and a catalyst to attract other people to risk their money. The word here is confidence, (some would say "confidence trick"). It's what keeps the stock market afloat.
So, does this mean that our beloved club is just a convenient instrument for the "wealth being" of some billionaire(s)? Fact is, football at this level is a business, a big business, and so the answer is yes. All the teams in the EPL are in the same boat, (or giant yacht!!). So, to all those bed wetters who can't sleep at night wondering if they are going to be cheated by the Mosh, just either enjoy the ride or get off the damned yacht, as you don't really have much choice. Besides, you could just as easily be kept awake by thoughts of the stock market crashing, or a meteor hitting you on the head.

By who, or are you using sources like the Mirror to boost your argument? Because this is what Moshiri actually first said when he arrived:

http://www.evertonfc.com/news/2016/03/11/message-from-farhad-moshiri

"There is much to be done and things for me to learn, but I can confirm that I have committed to providing additional funds for transfers and retaining our key players to ensure that we have a strong core to build on for the future.

We will also be looking at the best options in relation to our stadium. Goodison Park has served the club extremely well but we need to make sure the club has a suitable stage to perform on for the future. We will review the best options and how to finance, especially as it is likely to cost a little more than the £3,000 it apparently did back in 1892"

Admittedly, the transfer window didn't live up to expectation, however, it has clearly done enough to get us back in to the top 7 which was the realistic aim for this season. The man who has helped achieve that is Koeman, who Moshiri went all out for and brought in from a club with European Football. We robbed City blind for Stones and we held on to Lukaku who has gone on to be the leading goalscorer in the entire league. He then goes on to mention looking at the best options in relation to the Stadium.

He has set us up to be moving in to a 55,000+ seater stadium in one of the most iconic locations this country has to offer.

So what exactly were you expecting from his first 14 months here given that we finished 11th the previous 2 seasons? It seems to me like you're using the fact that the Stadium hasn't been built yet to buy yourself some more time so that you can keep posting negatively about him with no one able to challenge you when you know such a big and complex deal will inevitably take time.

I'd love to know what it is that Moshiri could do in the next year that's realistic that would make you give him some credit. But I doubt you'll respond or I suspect you will mention something that's not realistic so that you can carry on with this belief that we're still in the same position we were under Kenwright and Martinez 2 years ago.
Its like talking to a lamp post mate.

Exactly.

Over the last year or so, it has become, well, to me anyrate, clear as a bell that a big, long, game is being played out.

We win. LCC wins. Some developers and investment companies win.

But no one will win if the ground does not get built. Place your bet.

He has sanctioned a £140k pw contract for Rom. Cant force him to sign it.

Granted, the Barkley situation is rather odd mind.
His chance to persuade Lukaku to stay came and went last summer when all the usual promises were made and then - again as usual - they were broken....something pointed at by Lukaku himself to explain his position.

Well we'll see how many key players we lose this summer...one at least, because that's where the bulk of the transfer war chest is coming from.

You do realise you are 100% right and are effectively off @Daveks Christmas card list for eternity.
I work for a formerly British extremely well known household name multinational now owned by Americans /Swiss ( no one really knows ) and our local boss says the owners have a 3 yr a 5 yr a 7 yr and a 10 yr plan
He's lucky if he knows what's in store for 12 months ahead and we the workers will only be told what we need to know when we need to know it.
It's the way millionaires become billionaires and as I and others have said , as long as we get a shiny fit for purpose top class stadium , squad investment and a chance to see a few heads wobble across the park , I don't really care who makes a few hundred million on the deal.
If it wasn't Moshiri and his mates developing the docks it would be someone else and they probably couldn't care about Everton

Last summer was an unmitigated disaster, well, not quite, but a bloody waste of an opportunity. Me, I put it down to a poor performance by the board, Moshiri, whoever.

If they dont learn from it, then poor. If they do, then, well, lets see.

Most people expect at least one to. And that's down to manager and owner not making staying attractive enough.
Dave do you and the other The Blue Onion members gather round your computer at night and think of how you can put a negative spin on absolutely every post?

Its was annoying at first but now i feel sorry for you,You obviously find it absolutely impossible to see a positive anything EFC realated.

Poor man

I worked for 20 years for a company who specialise in commercial property investment. I knew/know some of the lads involved in them.

It was flagged to me that they were interested in all this, then I was told that, to quote, "cant say Roydo, but cant deny either". If they are interested, trust me, they dont do crappy housing estates or small business parks. They are global giants.

Long term, buy and hold merchants.

For starters he has not been here that long, But I can certainly see a foundation being set in place for the future. I get it you don't like the stadium plan but it's too early to come to any conclusions on it right now, my bet is it will go well and you won't be too unhappy with that Davek because despite your miserable tendencies you care deeply for this club. Now let's look at that statement, he clearly states he is committed to giving funds for future transfers, nowhere did he say when, maybe he is wanting other things in place before doing that and getting the stadium issue moving was a priority? Hopefully we will see money spent in the summer and it will quench your misery? Secondly a committment to retaining our best player is not really stating he will make them stay, we know he can't do that, but maybe he is committed to providing the means to make them more likely to stay, like better wages? In the end if players want to leave we can't really stop them even Man U, Chelsea and dare I say it the rs can't stop it from happening. I like your pessimism Davek, I think we should all be a weary of what lies ahead following the torcherous years of Kenwright, however I think Morshiri will get it right and if he's here to make money so be it, as long as it's on the condition of it improving this club.

Exactly
I googled Corestate after the Liver building purchase.
The are a global Behometh.
A 24 million investment is way below their usual thinking.
It's obviously a first step
Maybe offices to oversee the development , a bit like a builder putting in a couple of porta cabins and a few porta loos before building a housing estate
