If you think that we are spending like a midtable team mate , you are seriously deluded..
The dross that we are getting rid of has cost us a small fortune.
Give it up lad !
We are operating within means: hacking away at huge swathes of the existing squad (which will continue into the next few windows) and using freed up wage space to bring in two/three players.

The ambition of the last two seasons has gone. We are hunkering down. It's not too difficult to grasp that and the point being made about spending like a midtable PL team.

The window closes on Thursday with our first game on Saturday. Hardly the start to the season Silva would be wanting if we sell our Goalkeeper who happens to be one of our most important players without having time to get a suitable replacement in.

Given how long we kept hold of Stones and Lukaku when clubs like Chelsea were after them, how likely is it that we will sell Pickford before the window shuts in the event that Courtious leaves Chelsea?
Pretty unlikely. But we've been around football long enough not to rule it out, haven't we?

It's just looking at the situation on balance. We've seen Mori and Klaassen have gone for circa £22M. The loans of Mirallas, Williams, Onyekuru will eventually see fees circa £15M-£20M. We may well yet see another departure. My belief we'd see a negative net spend looks wrong at this stage and probably will be at the end of the window. However, I dont think the net spend will be large when taking fees for players out / loaned and eventually bought are subtracted. The net spend will be in line with a midtable PL club.
You really are a prize buffoon aren't you. Give yourself a little pat on the back mate. Nobody's taking your crown from you this season either. You must be so proud.

No chance normally.... but this is Everton so there is an element of doubt tucked away in the corner of my mind!

All said to the sound of furious backpedaling.

At the end of the day we are getting to be excited when we sign player, and as jubilant when we give them away a season or two having contributed nothing.
We could just have annual £20million cash burning ceremony every November to celebrate bonfire night and the effective end of our season.

Wow. Just.. wow.

Wow. Just.. wow.

You underestimate how much other clubs are spending. Reasonably high net spends are commonplace amongst mid-table clubs nowadays thanks to the massive increases in TV money.

Our supposedly massive net spend last summer was only 12 million higher than the likes of West Brom, Brighton and Watford.

Then we dropped another 50M in the Winter, so we were around 100M for the year.

Other clubs also spent in January, and we got 15 million for Barkley. The point is that we are not blitzing the net spends of mid-table clubs at all, and that’s because it has become commonplace for mid-table clubs to have large net spends, and the reason is because the whole league is awash with massively increased TV revenues.

I blame Koeman more than anyone else.
