We may well yet see another departure. My belief we'd see a negative net spend looks wrong at this stage and probably will be at the end of the window. However, I dont think the net spend will be large when taking fees for players out / loaned and eventually bought are subtracted. The net spend will be in line with a midtable PL club.

At the end of the day we are getting to be excited when we sign player, and as jubilant when we give them away a season or two having contributed nothing.

Our supposedly massive net spend last summer was only 12 million higher than the likes of West Brom, Brighton and Watford.

Other clubs also spent in January, and we got 15 million for Barkley. The point is that we are not blitzing the net spends of mid-table clubs at all, and that’s because it has become commonplace for mid-table clubs to have large net spends, and the reason is because the whole league is awash with massively increased TV revenues.
