No, he just did “all right”.

Could and should have done much better given the promising start we had, four or five wins from our opening six games and laying second in the table in mid September.

Then we went on a horrendous run over the next three months, lifting about five or six points out of a possible twenty seven before the Arsenal game stopped the rot.

A run similiar to what Saints endured the season before and a run which was reprised here in the opening months of last season.

In fact we ran out of steam over the closing weeks of Koeman’s first season as well, with a poor return over the last five or six games.

It seems these long barren spells during a league season the norm with Koeman.

A total chancer, as @bicycleheader was at pains to point out throughout Moshiri’s relentless pursuit of the Dutchman and again throughout his checkered tenure at Goodison.

An awful appointment IMO and the couldn’t care less attitude he displayed toward the club was apparent from the getgo, when he couldn’t be arsed interrupting his holiday to have his arrival announced in a fanfare of publicity.
I don't think he ever really wanted to leave Southampton. If you remember the first approach we made towards him he said 'no' and that he wanted to stay and continue his project there, clearly we just chucked a ton of cash at him when we should have moved on and left him to it. Also when it did all backfire in the end and we needed a bit of positivity back round the club, who on earth thought it was a good idea to hire the gravylord i don't know, having been driven out of West Ham and Newcastle by the fans there, he is the last person we needed at the club to try and get everybody back onside again. I just hope the Silva/Brands combo works and is a bit more longer lasting.

As per above just because we have renewed a credit facility doesn't mean we use all of it. There could be £60 on it for all we know. However it is likely we have whacked a decent amount against it that will then be repaid when the TV money comes through. Better that than not buying any players as we don't have a facility to do so, no? I expect all clubs to work like this that haven't got significant cash in the bank.

To answer your next statement that would have come up 'well Moshiri isn't bank rolling us then!' We run at a loss, Moshiri has to plug the gap between all the income generated to all the outgoings, some years this will be larger than others but it is fair to say we have not been running at a surplus and the headline transfer figures don't include bonuses/tax/signing on fees. As we have been buying more than we have been selling these will mount up. Not to mention we have probably got 4 managers currently on the payroll.
Thank you. At least you had the decency to acknowledge the loan and what it's been used for in all likelihood.

400m in 3 years and these people are UNHAPPY?

Most of the votes go back to a time when he had appointed Walsh to flush our money down the loo and Sam Allardyce to be our manager.

He's backing people well. Unfortunately he had backed some terrible people who were completely wrong for the club. It looks like he's found better people now. Let's hope they are the right people.

If you went back in time 5 years you'd see a lot of the same comments about Bill. Things like:

"The club isn't even for sale"
"He will never let go of his train set"
"Just draining money from the club and looking to make a profit"

Bill's only real crime was being a millionaire in a world of billionaire owners. He didn't really move us forward but it's hard to argue that he didn't have the best interests of the club at heart.
Anyway, my point being that people used to point the finger at Bill when things went wrong and have him no credit when there was a modicum of 'success' - exactly what davek is doing with Moshiri.

People still do it to Bill now with transfers.

If you like Kenwright fair enough, but when the club were doing badly Kenwright went missing, during the few times we were playing okay Bill was outside the main entrance on Goodison Road shaking hands with everyone, he was supposed to be gone by the end of August, is he still playing a part in the running of the club?
