What @Thomasc said. I can't see us winning under him again, I'm on about losing revenue by slipping further down, rather than climbing. But potentially if a caretaker boss comes in we could climb and gain.

Like I said it's all pie in the sky stuff but if the delay is due to them mulling over £2m it's ridiculous in today's game.

Imagine if we beat Sunderland, Norwich and Bournemouth and also Leicester. Just imagine the fume if he was in charge and we won 4 on the bounce!

Would he still be in charge for next season. You betcha!

Martinez Out

Read the £2M clause rumour, and if it exists then I don't actually blame them for not acting now.

Four almost pointless games with the clown in charge to save £2M actually seems like good business acumen.

I do want him gone though, but I can understand it.

makes zero sense, we'd make/lose more than that in league positions in he goes or stays.

We could sell Niasse to raise the money for the extra £2million pay off, it's not like he's ever going to play.

Mind you, not sure we'd even get £2m for him. lol

Can't really agree with this

We have 4 meaningless games where even a caretaker manager has no guarantee of more points than Martinez - if we really do save £2 million by waiting until June, then what's the point of just writing off £2 million by relieving him for 4 meaningless game?

You'd be gambling that a caretaker would take us far enough up the league to negate that £2m and it's unlikely

£2 million might be relatively small change in the grand scheme of things, but it's £2 million that we'd be spending for almost no reason whatsoever. That's bonkers economics and I'm fairly sure Moshiri won't have built his fortune by just throwing a couple of million away here and there for no reason other than to appease the blood lust of our fans (he needs to go before you think I'm arguing otherwise)

Just do it at the end of the season but work on his replacement beforehand

I can see that side too and that's fair enough.

But I'd do it now because of the statement it would make. He's just taken over, and knows the fans are angry - why not act?

You can work on his replacement whether he's there or not, just put the fans out of their misery.

Also, given these protests that are supposedly taking place, the backlash in the press could be massive too.

Maybe I'm talking with my heart and not my head - I know nothing about business or economics, I'm just talking as a fan and to sack him now, makes more sense to me.

So you don't actually think having him in the dressing room for longer is a massive negative? The games are not meaningless any more. Some players should be fighting for their careers at Everton and feel like they owe the fans big time for their recent displays.

My heart says get him out today. Right now.

Ultimately, I don't want an owner who makes these decisions with his heart though. Business decisions (which this is) should never be made on the basis of emotion.

What we're really talking about here is paying £2 million to make a statement to keep the fans happy, it will be of little/no benefit to the club or players if we're honest. They and we all know that he is out of here in the summer, all they're really doing is saving themselves some banners and chants and a very awkward lap of "honour" after the Norwich game by paying this £2 million now.

It would satisfy a lot of people, but it's a crap business decision

Whatever happens I hope the team and especially the senior pros can rally round and ensure we take the remaining league games seriously. We have nothing to play for competively but the idea that we can give 4 league games a free pass is completely unacceptable IMO. Losing/drawing those games in a manner similar to recent performances just puts the lid on a season of abject failure.

There is a strong possibility that the Leicester game will be the game that could win the title for them, so we have a moral duty, to do our very best to test them. In any case, there is a chance we could improve our league position by three places, and even with our new money, the extra prize money is not to be sniffed at.
