Fylde fly out of the blocks with last seasons play-off misery firmly put behind them. Ellis Simms got off to a good start scoring a looping header over Luke Pilling. Ryan East scored a rocket from 20 yards out when he found himself in enough space to get away a rifling shot. Wright-Phillips got himself in on the act with two goals late on to give Fylde the perfect start to the season.​

The first team were put through their paces with some physical training early Monday morning followed by some passing and moving training drills led by Duncan Ferguson. Duncan is impressed with the squad he has at his disposal with players like Jim Kellerman on loan from St. Mirren and striker Danny Rowe who was once on the books of Manchester United.
