Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

FERGUSON: WE MUST TURN THIS AROUND!

Fylde lose in the F.A. Cup first round to a 1-0 defeat to League One side Bradford. It wasn't a one-sided game and Fylde played some good football but could not do enough to beat the Bradford keeper. Sean Scannell used his pace to take the ball past the Fylde midfield and hit it on his right foot with devastating power. Great goal. Fylde can take many positives from this and regain focus on their league campaign.

Questions are starting to be asked of Duncan Ferguson's style of play. The team look devoid of answers and it appears goals are being conceded far too easy from set pieces. Players are not being picked up and free headers are being scored. The only goal scored was against Bromley by D'Margio Wright-Phillips and Fylde have struggled to create anything substantial. Fans are questioning Oliver Sarkic's performances and believe the club have signed a flop. It got no better against Dover and Fylde lack fight. The first came in the 7th minute, Dinzeyi scoring a header from a free-kick and the second coming in the final minute of the first half, Owen Dale was free in space on the overlap and buried one in the top corner.

Fylde outnumbered in the box as the free-kick comes in. Danny Rowe and Zaine Francis-Angol being left behind by their men. Defensively a shambles.

SLOWLY BUT SURELY......

Max Haygarth saved Ferguson from a backlash with a sweet finish in the 91st minute from outside the box. Fylde got their first through Ellis Simms who hit one into the roof of the net from 5 yards out. Dulwich equalised and caused a nervy 5 minutes for Fylde but The Coasters pulled off their first victory in ten games.

A great game for the neutrals. Atkinson opened the scoring for Salford after picking up a pass from a free-kick outside the box, his sot made it's way through the bodies and found its way into the net. Griffiths had no idea. Fylde fought back and it was an exceptional last 20 minuted of football. Wright-Phullips with the corner, Rowe flicked it on to Dooley at the near post who guided it home. 1-1. Danny Rowe brought down the ball nicely from a Denver Hume long ball and left the keeper wrong footed as he put it into the top left corner. Instant reply from Sambou as Salford found a man over and with only the keeper to beat he did so duly and put his side back in the contest. 2-2. When Danny Rowe has his back up against the wall he comes out fighting. 25 yards out, free kick, puts it over the wall and nestles into the back of the net. The keeper struggling to make contact. Fylde pick up a 3-2 win and make it two on the run.

DF: It's about momentum now, we found ourselves on a bad run with no way out. If Max didn't score that goal last weekend we would have struggled out here against Salord but we are a team on the way back. Back to basics and play football how we know it. 54545

Really Dunc? You just oversaw a run worse than got your predecessor the boot. I think the only reason you're safe is because no one expected it and a complacent board didn't have a back up plan in place. I bet they are getting one though. Might've been better if we split company before the new season. 2 wins in a row have not saved your bacon!

FYLDE CONTINUE UPTURN IN RESULTS

It was a good performance from Fylde but they could not break down the Boreham Wood defence. Boreham Wood are on an unbeaten streak and maintained that here with a good defensive display against The Coasters.

Max Haygarth gave Fylde the lead after 36 seconds when he lingered outside the box when the corner was played in. As the ball was cleared, it fell to Haygarth who took it on the bounce and directed it perfectly into the top corner with a nice controlled finish. Danny Rowe made it two after converting a penalty and the goal of the game came when Ryan East launched a 25 yarder into the top corner like a rocket. Max Haygarth hit a nice effort from outside the box in the 83rd minute to give Fylde a very convincing 4-1 victory.

DF: The midfield ran the show today, they done exactly what was asked and controlled the whole tempo of the game. The positioning was brilliant and the three goals were sublime. They know this is the standard we have to aim for next week in the FA Trophy at Nuneaton Borough.

Are you taking the FA Trophy serious this season?

DF: Of course, I'd like to win it. It takes away the pressure of the league and allows us to.....if you like, take a moment away from our promotion challenge.

What are your thoughts on promotion this season? Where are your ambitions?

DF: We are taking each game as it comes and that's all you can do in this league. We went through a horrendous run recently but now we are turning our back on that and picking up results. It's a results driven business and our aim is to get into League Two.

And finally, would you consider the Everton job

DF: Well....it's no secret, Everton are in my blood but there is a club here that I have become very fond of and I don't think it's the right time for me in my career to take that step up. It's a few steps up, mind. Whoever is the next manager of Everton has to get it right but deserves to be given time in the job.

What do you say to the fans who have been on your back lately?

Stick with us, I know it's not been a great run lately and I'm frustrated by it just like you are. We are 3 points off second and this league can turn around so fast. We have a great fanbase and I'm there with you every week. I've had sleepless nights after some defeats let me tell you but we have to keep going like we did today.
