FYLDE CONTINUE UPTURN IN RESULTS

It was a good performance from Fylde but they could not break down the Boreham Wood defence. Boreham Wood are on an unbeaten streak and maintained that here with a good defensive display against The Coasters.

Max Haygarth gave Fylde the lead after 36 seconds when he lingered outside the box when the corner was played in. As the ball was cleared, it fell to Haygarth who took it on the bounce and directed it perfectly into the top corner with a nice controlled finish. Danny Rowe made it two after converting a penalty and the goal of the game came when Ryan East launched a 25 yarder into the top corner like a rocket. Max Haygarth hit a nice effort from outside the box in the 83rd minute to give Fylde a very convincing 4-1 victory.
DF: The midfield ran the show today, they done exactly what was asked and controlled the whole tempo of the game. The positioning was brilliant and the three goals were sublime. They know this is the standard we have to aim for next week in the FA Trophy at Nuneaton Borough.
Are you taking the FA Trophy serious this season?
DF: Of course, I'd like to win it. It takes away the pressure of the league and allows us to.....if you like, take a moment away from our promotion challenge.
What are your thoughts on promotion this season? Where are your ambitions?
DF: We are taking each game as it comes and that's all you can do in this league. We went through a horrendous run recently but now we are turning our back on that and picking up results. It's a results driven business and our aim is to get into League Two.
And finally, would you consider the Everton job
DF: Well....it's no secret, Everton are in my blood but there is a club here that I have become very fond of and I don't think it's the right time for me in my career to take that step up. It's a few steps up, mind. Whoever is the next manager of Everton has to get it right but deserves to be given time in the job.
What do you say to the fans who have been on your back lately?
Stick with us, I know it's not been a great run lately and I'm frustrated by it just like you are. We are 3 points off second and this league can turn around so fast. We have a great fanbase and I'm there with you every week. I've had sleepless nights after some defeats let me tell you but we have to keep going like we did today.

It's a tall mountain to climb in order to swim in the ocean of the league proper. But that bad spell was an avalanche that forced into the sea of despair.
But Dunc' s got us back to the base camp to return to our ascent, though I fear we'll only reach the play off straits between those two large bodies of water.
Either way, we're going to get soaked.
Was really hoping Tony Mowbray got it.

Fylde were too strong for Nuneaton Borough in the F.A. Trophy first round clash. A comfortable 2-0 win ensued for The Coasters as the goals came from the midfield. Ryan East with the first and Paul Paton scoring his first goal of the season.
It was a trip to Prenton Park as struggling Tranmere hosted Fylde. Anton Rodgers scored for Tranmere with a 25 yard fee-kick. Russell Griffiths was left rooted to the spot as the ball swerved around the wall. It was direct football for Fylde as Hardy switched it to Dooley who crossed early for Danny Rowe to hit a running volley with the sweet part of the boot. 1-1 and a wonderful goal.
Ferguson faced a dillemma trying to accomodate Oliver Sarkic into the side after the centre forward expressed his desire to be more involved with the first team. Ferguson give his a start on the left wing and it was his cross from deep that found the head of in-form Danny Rowe to score a looping header over the Gateshead keeper. The second was a comical error as Ryan East whipped in a free kick, Graham Crawford tried to head the ball out for a corner but managed to put it past his own keeper. There was a chance to put things right when Crawford was free in the box in the 71st minute and duly slotted home the ball to give Gateshead a chance but Fylde hung on and earned themselves a deserved away victory.
Fylde were the better side against Solihull but the first goal of the game came from Solihul in the 71st minute through Jake Scrimshaw who scored against the run of play. Wright-Phillips had been on the pitch for ten minute and hit a great right footed strike to level for The Coasters three minutes later. A battling home display was nice ot enough for Fylde to take all three points with close efforts from Dooley and Rowe unable to beat the Solihull keeper.
In form Nothampton were a tough opponent but Fylde controlled possession and slowed the tempo down to frustrate Northampton and look for the openings patiently. It was a dull day in fron of goal for Fylde and Northampton had the more clear cut chances but a fine display from Russell Griffiths kept them at bay. Fylde with a well earned point away to a top side in Northampton Town.
Fylde supporters are slightly dismayed at the current league standings after 28 games. With the play-offs seeming to be their hope of promotion, they still need to ensure they go on a winning streak to be able to secure that, in what is one of the toughest promotion chases in recent years.
