Wales - Ramsey
He's 18 and was wanted by Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton and Spurs.

Is he going to be a Messi though mate? Rooney was wanted by a host of clubs when he was at us, and while he is a very good player, he is not technically sound like the Xavi's, Iniesta's, Arteta's etc.

Time will tell if Ramsay will be truely world class and in the same bracket as the players i've mentioned, but he is only one player these isles have produced with any sort of technical ability, i've just rolled 3 Spanish players off my head there. When will this country produce technical players consistently? Never until there is a complete overhaul and long-term strategy for development. As i said, once the FA do this instead of pandering to £££, they will never produce anyone

Meh.

I hope now, that we can finally **** off the Golden Generation thing. Gerrard, Lampard, Terry, Ferdinand, J Cole need to be told that they will never play for England again.

Yesterday, I reckon a team of...

Hart
Hibbert-Dawson-Jags-Baines
Young-Parker-Huddlestone-Johnson
Crouch-Bent

...would have put up more of a fight and given a better game than that lot did yesterday.

If you can think of better players to go in those positions, feel free to say. I just did this quickly

Yeah but come on, 2 of those 3 of the roll of your tounge play for Barca one of Europe's best teams. I do take you point but Spanish youth play Spanish football.. Really skillful, time on ball stuff, U.K isn't like that at all..

You've just proved my point, the Spanish, Brazilians, Germans, Italians consistently bring through skillful, time on the ball players, The UK never will unless they restructure the whole way they develop young players

Hibbert?!?

Rooney is better than anyone.

Looking at the present day midfielders, I don't think that any of those two will ever become better than Scholes, Gerard or Lampard.

Rodds will be England material. I wonder how come Carrick don't fit the England's team ahead of Barry.

You can't change the essence of who you are.

England has never produced a ton of skillfull players per generation.

The team that went to Italy had Hoddle, Waddle, Barnes, Beardsley and Gascoigne. And that was probably the exception.

But players like Lampard or Gerrard would be natural choices in any generation.

Ferdinand and Terry are good center backs, no matter the generation we're talking about.

I think is that the second line of players is not as good as they once were. There are no top notch strikers (Rooney apart), Barry is not up to the legacy of center midfielders, Milner still needs time (Young is a better player in my opinion), Upson is an average player, Glen Johnson looks like the same, and so on.

And Shilton left no heir to the throne also.

The main problem is that the top english sides do not field talented young english boys in their first eleven.

In the future there are some pretty good players like Adam Johnson, Ashley Young, Rodwell, Wellbeck, Wilkshire, Micah Richards, Steven Taylor... They should be brought to play around Rooney.

I was trying to use players not in the squad. I honestly can't think of any decent right backs. So I just lumped him in there.

Because Carrick has the same problems as Barry, he's slow on the ball, he struggles to get into positions where he can control and dictate a game. There's nothing wrong with the vision of the English players, there's quite a few good passers in and around the squad, it's the other areas of there game that let them down. When they've got to adjust there feet quickly in tight situations they struggle.

Paul Scholes is the exception really, he wouldn't look out of place alongside the Xavi's and Pirlo's of this world. Other than that, English football hasn't developed anything close to him.

This same old inquest will be going on in 4, 8, 12 years time.

When England accept the height of their ambitions being the quarter finals of the Earth Goblet then it will be easier.

Instead you have all the deluded bells thinking they're gonna win it.

We called this scenario right the start and had to face a typical barrage of abuse from the English for it.

I think were owed an apology.

Ask an Italian if they agree with you on that one.

You got it in for me today mate? :)

They may not at the minute, but the Italians have proved they consitently bring through top quality, technical players for generations. Is it a coincidence they have four world cups compared to England's one? (which was on home soil)

When i say technical, i mean someone comfortable on the ball, in possesion and off the ball with movement, something which the home nations have always lacked, bar possibly Gascoigne & Hoddle

This is the most sense talked in ages. Toccy in one post has put it better than me in 5

No you didn't.

All you said was that England fans are bad bells, which is what wound everyone up.
