The buck started with the Director & Chairman - Sharpy just took a job that was too good to be true ....

He aligned himself with them and then started having a pop at the fans every time they said something nasty about the mess the club was in.

His " one man and dog comments " about the protests against the board are a matter of record, as is his collusion with them over the headlock lies and the threat to their own personal safety.

All he had to do was issue some kind of apology, but he`s chosen to go the other way and continue to carry on digging the whole he finds himself still in.

The fact that he was and still is a club legend is irrelevant, he made his bed and he`s still choosing the lie in it.

I bet you would not moan if you were a £1 behind him money wise - Sharpy was a great no 9 ....

Absolutely no one is disputing that he`s one of our all time great players, it`s his continuing attitude towards the fans, who until he decided to get in bed with Kenwright & Co idolised him.

All he has to do is apologise Joey, it really is as simple as that.

Id be very careful with any accusations unless you can back them up Joey. Also you are repeatedly defending a guy who has had digs at the club in his book and had numerous digs at the fans all because of what he did 40 bloody years ago!!
I stated MAY not a fact - he must be staying away for personal reasons as for 40 years ago were you moaning about him then ...?

Look we will have a new board of Directors soon a new owner - ten years too late IMO ....

Apologise for Laurel & Hardy, who dragged the club into disrepute? he was never director material end of IMO - his playing record needs no apology IMO ....

He took the role of a non-executive director, a role which is supposed to provide unbiased oversight and scrutiny of board and business performance as well as strategy.

He didn't do that, instead he aligned himself with lies and vitriol against the fan base.

Yep just about right mate, I actually voted club legend as a football player for Everton and traitor for his other club roles. And has shown no contrition reading his latest interview, still continuing with unsubstantiated crap Kenwright, Prentice began.

No this is what you posted:

How about if your family had been receiving abuse too ?
I don't see the word "May" in there anywhere. I couldn't care less about 40 years ago I'm not the one who keeps going on about Sharpe the player in every other post, it's completely irrelevant to him as an individual. Also he has been invited back by Dyche and refused. Nothing is stopping him coming to games other than Sharpe himself.

If he is quoted correctly in the article, he says he is "not bothered" about coming back. Giving an interview as he has done is a lot of bother for someone who is not bothered. Sometimes its better to say nothing.

Clearly, he IS bothered. Perhaps there are things that he personally feels better to not divulge, but then you go back to square one and saying nothing. So this piece has done nothing for him.

His reputation and legacy have been tarnished in the eyes of some, including me. Nobody wants that to happen on a personal level, it stings. Very often with the media, what you intend to get across and what is published can be very different also. If he wanted to move on, he could have expressed regret at the turn of events and stopped short of an apology. If he feels he did nothing wrong, he cannot be expected to apologise. Fair enough.

Before the weekend, I was inclined to just think that it was time to move on and have him back for games, particularly before we move. But in the piece he comes across as a sulky teenager. He cannot merely dismiss the impact of the events in question, and the hurt and bewilderment felt by many. Sorry is indeed the hardest word.
