Graeme Sharp

He sided with the regime and slurred, insulted and spread lies about the fans in the process. A legend of a player yes, but he was also a total and utter Kenwright lackey.

If he wants to stay away that's his own decision. There will be no bouquet of flowers thrown in Sharpys direction by me anyway, pleading with him to come back.

Spare me the histrionics please. He did a lot of good for Everton, but he also sided with people who almost destroyed this club.

If you don't love Everton anymore Sharpy then just be gone with you i guess.🤷‍♂️

He is cutting his nose off to spite his face. Surely he must have known the fans fight against incompetence yet he believes all was sweet and nothing was wrong. That denial shows how out of touch with the fan base he was. We are beneath him kind of attitude. Great player though but he crapped on the fans feelings.
He's just throwing a little strop, because he can no longer line his own pockets with the money from being a board lackey imo.

Sharpy's status as an Everton great was substantially diluted, when he chose the Kenwright money over the good of the club.

Same old.

For the record, players can be unbelievable and not adored as people.

Sharp will go down as one of the best strikers we've had for the last 50 years.

The fella then did the job we all dream of, being paid (handsomely too, you'd imagine) to represent the club, travel back of beyond on the books.

Allegiances or no allegiances. He was part of the problem. He shouldn't have accepted the board position, the position should never have been offered to him, so I do have some empathy.

But look at some ex-players like Southall, they stood for the club, saw it falling apart. They're still respected.

You dug your grave, Graeme, and for that. I have no sympathy.

The acceptance of the role isnt the issue. Never was.
It's what he did, or didnt do, whilst in the role.

He chose to crawl up Kenwright's arse and vilify the fans. That's on him.

Like I said days ago, only things keeping him from the match are his cowardice and guilt.

In my view, and one I shared at the time - an Everton legend was promoted to the board as a human shield.

He worked with the club in an ambassador/liaison role for years didn't he? The timing of him being put on the board felt significant to me. Why after all those years, did he get put on it?

Fans singing sack the board are less inclined to do so when you put a club legend on it.

Fair enough, I come to expect that type of manoeuvre from that board - an appalling set of 'custodians' in self preservation mode.

What I found disappointing, was in his position, in my view - he proactively undermined fan concerns/protests. The media releases didn't just happen. Ian Wright and co have confirmed the very obvious shenanigans behind the scenes.

Fans have since been vindicated by point deductions etc and now, continuing to gaslight and vague "nobody knows the truth" won't cut it. Especially if there's been payments/NDAs (I read the board had a hefty pay off?)

Same as you mate, I definitely thought guilt has played a part in him not coming back, his pride / ego won't allow him to admit it.

People need to grow up if they are still offended by him.
It's not like he came round and killed one of your pets

This bloke was a crucial part of the greatest EFC side I have seen in my life.
He gets a free pass for me.
I'd rather see him walking round the pitch on the last day than some idiots you know are going to spoil it by running on.

Be sad if he's not part of it but the club should be doing everything to get him here.

Yepp.

He shouldn't have been offered the job, but for reasons you've also said, that's why he took it.

Had no place in the boardroom, and ultimately that's how he'll be remembered now
Not the fella who's a European trophy and league winner.

What a legacy.
