We’ve had boyhood Evertonians who have gone wrong, could name plenty of them going all the way back to McMahon,I guess even legends can disappoint us now too.😞
Sharpy came down as a young lad & got home sick - Gordon Lee masterminded his emergence after signing him - McMahon as a local lad & you could tell he was going to be a great player, but he had other ideas -
As I stated Sharpy in Management was never Director material -Oldham & Bangor City respectively were not an apprenticeship to ever be offered a Directorship even a job for life as a fans supporters liaison officer for life was over the mark -No one gets a job for life ...

You have to blame the un -dynamic duo at the top to see how they nearly ruined our great club - if i ever bumped into Sharpy, I would shake his hand & thank him for his playing days ....

That is what he should be remembered for ....

Which has backfired!!
There'll be more stories in the press soon.

They know that a lot of Evertonians are a soft touch.

My opinion is that he should be celebrated along with the team he played in - he's earned that much. But that's where it ends.

There's no coming back from throwing his hand in with that last board and attacking fans of this club.

All through his time at Everton as an 'ambassador' and then a director he patronised fans and basically talked down to them as if their concerns were nothing and they had zero input into the club.

He can GTF as far as I'm concerned. Good riddance to him. He got a good screw out of this organisation and he can have no complaints.

Ta-ra.

He's just throwing a little strop, because he can no longer line his own pockets with the money from being a board lackey imo.

Sharpy's status as an Everton great was substantially diluted, when he chose the Kenwright money over the good of the club.
This is all holy than thou and very unseemly. People get far too emotional and puritanical about these sorts of things. Maybe he was just doing what he thought was best for his family. Being sanctimonious doesn’t pay the bills and his actions would make absolutely no difference to the outcome so I don’t blame him for taking the money in anyway. People need to grew up and stop acting like a bunch of school kids whose feelings got hurt.

Pretty much what I’d expect from you.

He will be back come last game of the season at Goodison, he will have all season to think on it and have a miraculous change of heart and walk out with the other legends to wave the old lady goodbye.

And if not well good riddance the panda molesting blurt, you were an acolyte of Kenwright and part of the board who slandered the fans.

Missed anything ?

…..and almost got us relegated with those point deductions.

Or maybe you could just grow a pair and not be offended by something so trivial.

We aren't a soft touch, we just understand what is important and what not to waste pointless energy on.

….i think he’s trying to get public opinion on his side rather than coming clean with supporters.

For me, he’s part of a jurisdiction that resulted in us getting a points deduction which is gross maladministration yet he continually spins that they were doing a fine job. Everybody is at fault except them. If he’s got a story to tell he should tell it.
Jesus, that a bit hysterical. You think he had a say in the finances? What was he supposed to do?

You can tell a lot about a person's character by how willing they are to persecute non-believers with extreme prejudice. Davek's spirit has been reincarnated many times, he was there in the inquisition and the Stalinist purges. Archetypal character traits repeat throughout history.

He was part of the board that brought the eternal shame of not one but two points deductions to the clubs door, then had the unmitigated gall to throw the fans under the bus for caring about the club, dismissed any protest as one man and his dog, arrogant oaf

Oh we all know how Dave operates.
If everyone on the thread were slating Sharp then he would be on here defending him to the hilt.

He hasn’t helped himself to be fair. He was always a kenwright man, even before he was on the board.

Always had a pop at fans who wanted change when he was on live radio.

He’d have rather have seen this club go bust than have anything bad said about Kenwright.
You're talking like he supported the Nazi's or something. He just disagreed with on how the club should be managed. It's pretty trivial in the scheme of things. I'd wager the majority of our fans were supportive of Bill or at least apathetic during his reign. The way he is talked about on here after his death is very unseemly. It's only the gimps in their crusty underwear in their grandmother's basement who get exercised about these things.

I've defended his right to be not written out of the greatest period of the club's history.

But that's where his involvement in the club ends.

I dont think, looking at this thread, I'm going against the grain on that either.

He's revered for his performances for Everton in the 80s, rightly so; but he's not welcome by the vast majority of Evertonians as part of our present or future.

Sorry if that offends, but it happens to be the truth.

He was and he did, but his job was also to do the best for the fans. He had disregard for the fans and that showed.
Don't believe anyone doesn't want him to attend matches or line up with his ex-team mates at the end of the season but for Sharp to believe he did nothing wrong and having his feelings hurt because fans turned on a board that nearly ruined Everton..........well he is the one behaving like a school kid
