If Potter and Moyes were the candidates, then I'd choose Moyes over him.

I would choose Potter over some unknown candidate.

There is certainly a coach in there with Potter and you'd have to hope he has used time away from the game effectively to manage stress, as he would be in for bucket loads of it here.

That said, I think he'll choose West Ham if given the opportunity so all this may be moot.

Various media sources reporting Potter has a choice between Everton and West Ham with a decision likely in the next 24 hours.

I think it's a big risk. With the squad being so poor and trying to implement Potterball midway through the season and scrapping the relegation zone. I'm on the fence about Potter's capabilities too. However a freshening up and change of approach is now needed. I just don't think it should be Potter.

So would you be happy with Dyche being relieved of his duties in return for Potter taking charge?
Did a great job at Brighton, but so did the following managers, including some doing better. You can argue that he put the fundations there for the subsequent managers to be successful.

If it was the summer I'd say yes. In the position we are currently in? Makes me more nervous. I think he needs more time than we have to embed his culture and style into a club.

It's been mentioned on here TFG''s preference is to keep Dyche until the end of the season as the manager they want is cirrently in a job. Potter isn't currently in a job but that doesn't mean the bit on here about TFG's preference isn't also just having something to say.

For Potter if it really is between us and West Ham then it's West Ham and although I would like to see Dyche gone today I'm not sure Potter is the right one to replace him but who knows? Our squad isn't that bad, it's the things Dyche is making them do that makes them look bad and gives him an out for his own tactical failings. If the players currently at Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City, Villa, Newcastle... were forced to play the way we do they would be in the same position we are, now.

Football has moved on. Dyche hasn't and I don't think Potter has enough time left this season to keep us up.
Disagree with you saying potter does not have enough time to keep us up, i think a good manager gets more out of the team bring back some positivity to the players to get nore from them. Agree is not just going to be playing like prime barca back in the day. But could atleast implement faster more postive passing plays instead of hitting it long

C’mon mate. How can you not trust him to buy players when he’s been on the phone to clubs trying to buy players for 25m and offering 2m upfront. He’s had his hands tied more than any manager we have had. And he’s managed to still get faces through the door and some decent money for players too.

Can’t think of any good ones he’s brought in. Happy to be corrected as it’s all blur to me now who came in and when etc.

Ndiaye could be exciting but idiot Dyche doesn’t utilise him. Maybe he has recruited well and it’s Dyche not setting up a competent team with them. Remove Dyche and all will be revealed.

Brighton are a very well run club, like you said the foundations are there for when managers or players leave.

Sadly we’re stuck between a rock and a hard place with it thanks to the current incumbent. One thing we can’t do, is dither with it and allow him to waste any more football matches. We need the leadership to step up and show some actual leadership, a decision needs to be made what direction we’re going in and it needs to be made pronto.
People aren't going to like it, but TFG should be looking at 22/23 if the situation is as desperate. Dyche took us over in game week 22 on 15 pts and kept us up. We're currently on 17 having played 19 game weeks, but going into game week 21.

So what's the point in getting a new crisis manager on a long contract just because people are bored of the face of the current crisis manager?

And another point, if these lads can play football that yields better results than we're currently getting, then why not just go for a non crisis manager and stay up with better football?

Have a feeling he would come here and fail miserably but didn't want Nuno and he's flying at Forest so what do I know.

It’s not “because people are bored” though is it? It’s because we’re actually back in the same crisis that we were in when he took over, with much worse underlying statistics that suggest we’re actually a worse football team than we were back then. We are getting worse the longer he’s in charge, how’s that conducive to getting out of a crisis?

Bingo.

If this is as bad as it can get under Dyche, and we're still above the drop with a game to spare - why do we need a crisis manager?

I think there’s better suited options out there and we probably need another crisis manager to drag us out of the hole that Dyche has left us in. However, if it’s a simple choice, Potter or Dyche, then yes. Without hesitation.
Totally agree.

I'm not sure that Potter is a great fit but if the choice is Dyche or Potter I'm team Potter every day of the week.

BTW if Potter is appointed I'd give him my full support and hope that every Evertonian did likewise.

It's the sort of brave managerial as appointment that is needed.
