He wasn't even voted in by the "public". He was voted in by a large number of activists who all bought the £3 membership purely for the purpose of voting him in to push their own agenda. He would only have to face the public in a general election and anybody can see that he wouldn't stand a cat in hell chance. He's shown that he's far to weak to lead following the referendum results. As much as I have always disliked him I thought him a man of integrity and principle, who would stick to him beliefs no matter what, this has proven to be false from the way he changed his tune over the EU Vote. The man is completely controlled by certain figures within the party, have you ever heard of a party whip keeping the leader in line?! It's to ludicrous to contemplate, but it's what's going on within the Labour party. He currently has a weakened opposition, a country looking for leadership and had repeated chances to save the situation but with the skills of true genius he's swept aside all these obstacles with unerring precision and out of what should of been ordered created utter chaos.
