Not bothered how or why he has those views, its wrong. He needs to educate himself.

Those excusing his views saying thats the way he was brought up he cant help it, is akin to saying the KKK cant help being disgusting racists.

He isnt a child, he's an adult who can choose to educate himself or make big boy decisions.
So who are you to say that he hasn't weighed up the pros and cons and decided, as an adult, to take the action he did? Or are you somehow the judge of us all and we should bow to what you deem to be correct? I'm not saying you're wrong by the way, just that you haven't the right to judge him.

At this point I see it as a choice for him and he has clearly elected to stand by his views.
Maybe it's nothing to go with homophobia. Maybe he's still not over the fact he went chasing the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and ended up at Everton. Things like that can haunt you forever.

Its bigoted homophobia. He's the one judging other people

We're all entitled to hold contentious opinions. If, however, we choose to make those views public in some way, we can expect (and deserve) public criticism.

Your right mate everyone has different views, too many wannabe mods on here as it is.

It's bigoted homophobia in YOUR eyes, but not in his. He isn't judging people, he is refusing to support a movement. Am I bigoted because I refuse to support the NF?

Its not my eyes, its a literal definition. In this case its LGBTQ

bigotry
/ˈbɪɡətri/
Learn to pronounce
noun
obstinate or unreasonable attachment to a belief, opinion, or faction; in particular, prejudice against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular group.

Idrissa was brought up on the idea of the literal truth of scripture. I wonder if he has spent very much time since then examining his Bronze Age morality.

We might get public criticism from people who don't agree with our views, but not deserve it.

Play with fire = get burnt. The nature of his action (and the reason(s) behind it puts him in one of a couple of categories in my view. Naïve or the stuff of martyrs.
You could just as easily say that people who take an intolerant view of other peoples' beliefs are, themselves, bigoted. Which I'm afraid makes you a bigot as well.

No you can't. Social norms / the law are around for a purpose. We are all free to take exception to a particular law or convention for good or less good reasons, but we have to accept the price - be that public censure of a criminal conviction.

So you've provided a definition of your stance i.e. "prejudice against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular group." Which makes you just as much a bigot as you claim him to be.
