Is everyone over reacting?

A lot of unwarranted fume - think back to the dog days of Brown Shoes and Red Ronnie. We are getting in a hugely experienced BRITISH manager.

The Sammy Lee situation concerns me, but Big Sam clearly gets us in ways Koeman never would.
He doesn’t get Everton - he just gets 4 million pounds! His past shows how much he values money over all else - see the England fiasco - and that was his dream job!

Big Sam is the pragmatic choice and he has my support if he does sign up. But never in a million years would I have envisioned that we'd be in a position where his expertise would be required by us. Oh well, Everton that I suppose.

I really wanted a Simeone or Tuchel or Silva (unproven as yet, but I think he’s going places).

If we couldn’t get them, then Fat Sam is infinitely better than what we could have ended up with. Moyes, O’Neil, Coleman etc...

I really don’t care about the “corruption” thing. The game is utterly riddled with corruption. I’d rather have a pragmatist, who knows how to play the game to allow us to compete.

And looking beyond the big fat thicko appearance, he’s a a student of the game. England lost a good manager, way better than Southgate will ever be.
Personally its not the corruption thing itself that bothers me - its the incredible lack of judgement on his part that lead him down that road after he had landed his dream job, he jeopardized that and a fat salary for a few bob.
I have often heard critics on here say that no one player is bigger than the club but I am unconvinced that Fat Sam feels that way about himself.

For me the dislike of Allardyce is simple. For me it's not the person,, it comes down to hope and ambition.

A new manager brings hope that there maybe a perfect fit, a spark that brings success. With Allardyce, there is no hope, he has a track record over the years of getting by. No hope exists, just promise of a mediocre league finish.

It's bad enough starting a season in the sky era, knowing it's going to go down to the size of the cheque book, and the media will only ever cover and laud 6 clubs, when we've been the 7th. But the promise of a man who has only ever achieved mediocre, apart from in his own head, rather saps the soul of any reason to continually show an interest.
Getting by is what we need in the short run. Needs must and all that.

Do you think this hugely experienced (with clubs with no ambition) BRITISH manager gets Everton better than Unsworth?

'Getting' Everton is no credential for managing the club.

I personally think there's some over reacting going on.

No, no-one wants Sam, but if he is the man to keep us up then so be it.

I can't see what positive benefit constant belly aching will have.
He announced on TV weeks ago what his plan for Everton would be. Make us defensively strong, keep a few clean sheets and hope to nick a win here and there. Is that the height of our ambition? It doesn’t seem like that philosophy took a lot of thought... hardly the Neitsche of footy - Couldn’t any decent manager figure that out?
This is a tough day to be a Blue if only because this appointment defines our ambition as survival.

As long as i have been on here and twitter , i have never seen Everton fans at eachother as much as this.

Allardyce isnt my choice but i have definitely seen worse managers at Everton and seen us in a lot more trouble. We need fixing.

People actually hate Big Sam and i bet half of them dont know why. I dont waste my energy hating anyone - its just jumping on the band wagon Gang mentality for a lot ( not all). People are quoting that he is a crook - but we have been in underwritten by Phil Green for years.

The ones saying they have finished with Everton ? Ill bet most havent got a season ticket or ever go!

Also clammering for Fonseca when many hadnt heard of him 24hours earlier is just as embarrassing.

Yes. I imagine there has always been a sense of entitlement among fanbases, including ours, but it's at its peak these days due to Social Media and online forums and the bedwetting is there in full view lol.

Forget the fact we haven't been a relevance at the top of English Football for 30 years, have finished in the bottom half 2 out of the last 3 seasons, are bottom of our European group that contains Cypriot Giants Appollon Limassol, are 17th with the worst defence in the league... Us going after Sam Allardyce is the real problem here.

We had so much class before this decision as well, and everyone was in awe of us for our stylish attacking football and bringing in Big Sam is going to undo all that. It's all very disappointing.

Well it’s escaped Koeman, Martinez, and the current holder of the U23’s league title.

Look lads I’m not saying Sam is my choice because he isn’t, but if he gets us through this then I think as a fan base we have to take a positive view and get behind the team.

Every fan doesn’t love every player but you still support Everton, and for me this applies to managers.

I think when the club can afford to spend 150M in the summer, and were trying to spend even more to get a striker, and the last manager was getting 6m a year, then it could expected that we would set our sights a bit higher than fat sam.

But whoever is the manager will get my full support.

I’m someone who agrees with this mostly. I do however think that if he’s allowed to bring Sammy Lee with him then that is a fork in the eye to the supporters. Is it really necessary for him to come as well? Can Allardyce not function without him? Or is he there to massage his feet and rub his belly to maximise optimal performance?

He is literally is nobody's 1st choice , but its happening so in just my humble opinion we have to support the team.

Putting a positive spin on it - This is his last chance at shaking off the Red Adair Tag , Industrial football etc. Arent we the richest club he will have managed?

Allardyce cannot help being Allardyce.

Any fume here should be directly solely at the board for this appointment if it happens.

For my part it is the best choice of the managers that are currently available and actually want to come here.

Sammy Lee is an unexpected kick in the balls mind.

I would agree with your comment but do we really think he has the approach and skills to do better than those three?
