Transfer Rumour Jaden Philogene

Been terrible for Villa in his prem cameos so far.

Think another year in the championship or even going to Ipswich was what he needed in his career.

He isn't rapid either.

Would be a gamble this one. El Ghazi was more proven at this level when he came in at this stage three years ago and he hardly figured due to the change of manager so that really needs to be factored in aswell.

At c.£15m I don't think that's much of a 'gamble' personally. Quite comfortably goes straight into our starting XI.

That's why he's coming to us.

It makes sense as long as the terms of the deal are similar and affordable. If Villa want more than they paid for a player who they haven't used, then the deal doesn't make sense for us.

Villa only paid 12m although on the books it was something like 17m - it's a weird one this.

Due to the sell on clause they paid 17m so I er his contract that comes out as a 3.5m outlay per year on PSR, but they sell on money cane in as pure PSR profit this season so they received 5m.

Overall Villa made a PSR profit of 1.5m by actually buying him 😂.

Now if they sold him for say the 12m they actually paid Hull then Villa will have magic'd up a 13.5m PSR profit by simply acting as an intermediate almost moving him from Hill to us 😂

Tell you what that's one way of circumnavigation of PSR regs ))

Wouldn't say he was a 'speedster' or anything, but quick enough like. Similar to Ndiaye I'd say.
Spoke to a hull fan in the summer when we were in for him, said similar, not rapid and faded badly after a good first half to his season with them. Can't be worse than Harrison, can he?

That’s actually genius and I have nothing but respect for their PSR wizards

No idea if he’s up too much or not. Hard to get excited about any signing who will have to spend a month “on the grass” getting “Dyche fit” who will mainly sit on the bench because he doesn’t do the “hard yards” like Jack or Jesper and doesn’t have “premier league experience”. And Kev hardly has much credit in the bank for signing effective wingers. Let’s see. If we bullet Dyche, maybe I’ll be able to look at it with fresh eyes.

Well the fee they paid was already written into his original sale so it's a little bit different to a normal transfer.

Nah it wasn't mate, they just had a buy back option to match whatever fee Hull accepted. Along with a 30% sell on clause.

Them bringing him back I said at the time looked like Villa being creative with the PSR regs, seems I was right tbh.

They had a clause that allowed them to take him back.

Presumably they activated that clause as they felt there was profit to be had.
Just as far as I recall we were heavily linked for weeks on end, then Villa swooped in with their deal. Maybe if we'd have agreed decisively they wouldn't have fancied him at that time. In any case I'm all for bringing him in but it'd be mad to see them turn a profit on a player that hasn't played.
