Jonjoe Kenny

He's still young and learning...he's had experience of 3 leagues now and it's beginning to tell and pay off.

FL will give him a new contract. He's adaptable and getting consistency. If we tried to buy that in now it'd cost us near £20M.

He's 25 in 2 weeks, that's about the half point of his career, he's certainly not a kid anymore.

He's been decent since Frank come in, have we not learnt to dish out new contracts to "decent" performances and especially for players that haven't shown a level of consistency.

Wouldnt mind if it was a 1/2 year deal but knowing us we'll offer him a new 5 year contract

Yeah and theres a reason he hasn't been given a run in the team. I don't believe he is the answer myself personally, but yeah I agree he has put in some good performances recently, conveniently at the end of his contract
Never let the team down before this run of games. It certainly seems, going by this thread, that Jonjoe doesn’t have a lot of fans.

We’ll accept anything so easily won’t we. Wasn’t it only against Southampton he was being torn a new one?

He’s had a couple of games v Leeds and Boreham Wood where he’s looked ok and suddenly this is enough for people.

He’s not good enough by any stretch of the imagination. Far far too slow. He’ll be absolutely obliterated by a top 6 winger when it gets to it.

His passing is only looking adequate because we’ve grown used to Coleman just yahooing crosses out of the stadium.

He's saying that he doesn't think Kenny should get a new contract but thinks that the club will give him one anyway. I don't really know how to make it easier to understand than he already has to be honest.
He actually said that he had NO DOUBT the club would give him a new three contract. Makes a difference from he thinks they will give him one but let’s not split hairs over this and see if Jonjoe gets a contract.

He's not even 25 with bags of experience in different leagues and is playing as well as anyone in this team...so, yeah, let's let him go on a free transfer to one of our opponents.

Un'kinbelievable *logic*

He's played well recently, I'm always a little suspicious though, when a player who is coming into the last few months of his contract finds a new level of performance and consistency. He is, without doubt,a versatile defender and for that reason, if his wage demands are low enough, I think he is worth another year or two.

Very true. If Mykolenko or Patterson came in and performed like Jonjoe is now our fans would be saying they are excellent signings and great value for money.

Jonjoe is performing like a 20m signing and we got him for nothing. It's not hard to evaluate. Give him a new contract straight away.
I cant beleive what I'm reading: some people would let Kenny go to another club on a free and let him play like this for them.

How on earth do you even begin to understand that?

Bags of experience in different leagues, mad how you can put a spin on anything that suits your agenda.

He had a woeful spell at celtic and they couldn't wait to send him home.

He was relegated with schalke wasn't he?

So he's had a decent spell in Germany, so what? He deserves a new contract because he had a decent spell in Germany about 4 years ago???

It doesn't really like but OK.

I think Kenny is a half decent player who isn't completely out of his depth at PL level but who will never be any more than an OK squad filler. I think there's a lot of truth in what @Saint Domingo said above, in that there's a very low bar in terms of our performances so far this season and so some competent performances are maybe being blown into something out of proportion. He deserves credit for his recent performances and if he keeps it up for the rest of the season i'd have to agree that he should get a new contract, but that's a big if.

No he deserves a new contract because he's been our star performer for the last 2 months.

No he wasn't.

He played very well for them in a decent season for them.

Open your eyes and watch this player.

FL will hand him a contract extension without a shadow of a doubt, because he understands football and footballer's development....

But mate I'm not arsed how he did at schalke 4 years ago, he's been nothing but average for us and only in the last few home games he's been good.

Wouldn't be adverse to us giving him a short term contract, but I don't believe in handing out contracts to players who have shown next to nothing in their whole career with the club.

They'll hold off anything until the end of the season and see how he does over a few months and not a few home games
