Not really - he conceded a lot of goals for Sunderland, has conceded a lot of goals under four Everton managers, and conceded more than a goal a game at the World Cup for England. He's the only consistent factor in all of those.

No. Having a shabite back four in front of him is also a consistent factor.

It's not though (again).

He conceded enough with Stones and Maguire in front of him.

Zouma and Holgate are good players. Digne is an excellent player.

How many defensive lineup permutations do there need to be before he - as the one consistent factor - is properly scrutinised ?

There's the problem right there. Keep chopping and changing the back four -- for any reason -- and there's no chance to form any kind of cohesion. And how long did England's back four train or play together before the WC? What he -- and Everton -- need is one that stays together for a decent amount of time and doesn't contain elements that are past their prime.

Thought he could have done better with the goal. He seems to be very dramatic and showy with his jumping and diving when there's no real need.

He had no chance. Flick on left him in no-man's land. He almost got a hand to it as it was headed back across goal. Blame the zonal marking for that; the sooner Silva either ditches it or gets players who can work in that system, the better.

Actually being at fault for the goals would be a start.

Not saying the goal was his fault, but he didn't help himself much. I agree with you about the Zonal Marking system though. We need to play a system that suits the players we have, or bring in players who can make the current system work.

If the goal wasn't his fault, how can you say he didn't help himself much? Corner came in low and with pace; once its path changed, he was hung out to dry. The second header also had some strength behind it, so given all that you tell me how he's going to defend 192 square feet by himself?
