Tim Howard was not an accomplished keeper at Premier League level when he joined Everton. That simply isn’t true, dave. He’d sat on United’s bench for 2 years after a largely awful first season. And he was very erratic himself.
Pickford a brilliant save against Stoke with minutes left to keep us 1-0 up. That is the definition of winning a game for us by being unbeatable. He’s made other big saves that have changed games or kept us in them (Bournemouth at home, West Ham at home, Split away etc). As goalkeepers should I might add.
Have we seen a truly special performance from him e.g. Nigel Martyn at Anfield or Southall in 95? Possibly not. But only the very best have more than a couple of those in a whole career, and he’s 24 with one full Premier League season under his belt.
At the moment, except for maybe Digne and Richarlison, he’s the least of our worries. Get in the centre back or striker threads if you want a good moan.
