Slightly concerned that his next game is against Newcastle. I don’t think there could be a worse opponent for him off the back of that error. Their fans have him some disgusting abuse in the game last season which he eventually reacted to. Just hope he plays his normal game and doesn’t do anything daft.
Forgot about that, 90 minutes of abuse coming his way, massive game this one, zero reaction is needed, even if we win 4 0

I am humiliated by this derby record...a record that feller has contributed to in the most embarrassing, needless of ways.

I could give a flying one about Pickford and his feelings. It means a lot less to him than it does to me, I can GUARANTEE you that.

He's an ego. That's all. His arrogance has just cost us in a Merseyside derby. I make no apology for calling him out on that. Not one bit. And his compounding of it by hiding his catastrophic error behind a coward's comment like "it's just what happens to Everton at Anfield" was a disgrace.

We have him and he has no substantial competition for a starting place. That to me is unforgivable. It's a situation we have to see addressed in January.

It would rattle out a fantastic point if Silva went out and bought a new keeper in January. That would hammer home that he wants genuine quality in depth for each position and give players who throw games away the punishment they richly deserve by dropping them.

So when we lost 4-0 twice under Martinez there, what was your opinion about the managers “ego” when he got it so disastrously wrong in both those games?

Asking for a friend x

After the incident faces of Klopp and others at the bench made me want to vomit, really disgusting scenes. I like Pickford, he is not a superb GK but for now, more than enough for us, but yeah he can get over confident about things. I also sense that,

Ball went weird as hell tho, they lucked out another undeserving win

100% agree but I don't think the bulk of nonsense being spouted online is a fair reflection of our match going fanbase. I doubt half the people on here who are chatting the most wham would ever say half the BS they're spouting to a person in a face to face conversation. They'd their life being laughed at and avoided by most rational people
I don't know about twitter, but I don't think it's abuse. Nobody is hating of him the same way we are towards Klopp. It's just the endless defeats to those lot and especially in the way we lost today have taken a toll of people including myself. I'm annoyed at him for making a mistake, because I think it was out of cockiness. But then again, he made numerous great saves against Chelsea the other week and in other games. It's just a shame he makes a mistake, in the 96th minute at Anfield. If he made a similar mistake against Newcastle, nobody would be that arsed.
It was a freak goal, that 9 times out of 10 would result in it going over the bar, but fell to Origi. However I do still worry about his making mistakes in big games, missing chances against Arsenal and Man United cost us. Personally I'd give him a rest for Newcastle, just so he can get his confidence back, because we don't want him trying to hard to make up for it and messing up. Supporters are fickle, players and managers go from being hero to zero overnight. I haven't seen anyone saying anything as serious as what the RS say about their players. Lukaku got a lot of abuse from our fans, even though he had an excellent scoring record. Look at how many trophies Wenger won and the amount of abuse he got from their fans.

I would not rest him, I think that might damage his confidence more. He needs a good performance to put the incident behind him.

I understand it was a tricky one but I still can’t wrap my head around what he was trying to do. Any doubt it might dip in, and you simply help it get over for a corner. Beyond frustrating still.

Disastrous. Absolutely disastrous. As was his kicking/decision making at times.

But he made a couple of big saves to keep it at 0-0. Stekelenburg, Robles or Howard and we arguably concede a couple there well before the horror show.

No excuses for a huge error. But all we can ask is that he learns from it, and we don’t need to crucify him.

Nah you're going OTT here mate. Horrendous error but name me a keeper in world football that hasn't made them?

Pickford could possibly have done better but it was a freak incident. 9 times out of 10 the ball would go out of play after hitting the top of the crossbar.

The bottom line is that we matched one of the best teams in Europe away from home. It's years since we did something like that. Very encouraging.

Have a word with yourself Dave. You're talking absolute bull if you think it doesn't mean more to Pickford. He plays for the club, he puts everything in to it, he gives 100% every single game. He'll be absolutely heart broken this evening and he'll work twice as hard in training this week to make sure an error like that doesn't happen again.

Whereas you, well you're just a totally insignificant supporter. Disappointed like the rest of us but you'll never wear the blue Jersey and never feel what a player feels.

Jog on and give it a rest.

I strongly disagree with Dave’s opinion on Pickford. It’s way over the top.

But c’mon Rob; you’re calling the man an insignificant supporter?

None of this exists without the fans, and the fanatical obsession of a life long Everton fan is a pretty strong factor.

20 years without a win at Anfield; I’d bet Dave watched every one of them. Pickford was adopted into the culture of the club by way of purchase. For many fans this rivalry is more serious than life & death.

Supporters can and often do care more about the club than even the players out on the pitch. But more than that; these players only have the luxury of doing so because of those same supporters.
