He hasn't tried to catch itMy main issue with that error is the mentality to make an error like that. 99% of keepers don't even attempt to catch that. They tip it over. It was utterly needless and bordering on insanity. Absolutely horrendous.

Look at the spin even in super slow motion, it's a freak event, a perfect storm. I reckon most keepers would've done the same and probably get the same outcome. If Van dijk hadn't sliced it, it would've gone the other side of the bar but the balls gripped and come back.
It's the flukiest chain of events I think I've ever seen...I really don’t want to watch it again, i’m doing my very best to move on. I didn’t have the best of sleeps.
He hasn't tried to catch it
That does show that the ball would have almost certainly struck the bar then went behind the goal had he left it and not bounced back into play....I really don’t want to watch it again, i’m doing my very best to move on. I didn’t have the best of sleeps.

A big mistake indeed but Pickford will earn us more points than he will cost us.
But we're talking a few millimetres the other way and the balls bouncing off the bar the other way n back in to play, he has to deal with it it's coming straight down on top of the barThat does show that the ball would have almost certainly struck the bar then went behind the goal had he left it and not bounced back into play.

I like that he had the character to face the media and apologise afterwards. That is exactly the confident attitude this team needs to have right through it....I agree with you. I like the fella.
Yes but experience would have taught him to flick it over rather than try and catch it.But we're talking a few millimetres the other way and the balls bouncing off the bar the other way n back in to play, he has to deal with it it's coming straight down on top of the bar
I think he thinks it's going in and tries to tip it back into play so he could catch it, instead of conceding a corner...which is obvs wrong decisionIt sure looked like he did. If he didn't try to catch it and he didn't tip it then what on earth was he trying to do.

He hasn't tried to catch he tried to tip it, the slice had put a load of backspin on it and it's spun back in to play. Look at the ball spinning, a normal kick instead of a slice and the ball would've been tipped out.Yes but experience would have taught him to flick it over rather than try and catch it.
All a learning process for him and he will probably be the key man on Wednesday the way football works out....good on him, I haven’t seen that as i’m avoiding the telly. He needs to make me trust him but that can only happen over a period of time.
You could be right mate, I just thought if he had been trying to tip it over then he would have led with one hand.He hasn't tried to catch he tried to tip it, the slice had put a load of backspin on it and it's spun back in to play.
