2018/19 Jordan Pickford

Unfortunately Mikey with our fans I just feel we have some who are waiting for mistakes to happen to get their 'I told you so' signs out. It's weird.

Lad's a great goalkeeper. He's not world class yet but we're not a world class team and, frankly, world class goalkeepers make mistakes. It's how they come back from them.

That mistake he made yesterday would not result in a goal against any other team. But against that shower, of course it friggin does.

End of the day if we take our chances we could have been out of sight (not to say that Liverpool won't say the same).
It's sad that people just instantly forget that he's been brilliant for us in the last couple of months, and was fine during the match just because of 1 moment of madness. But some people enjoy being right for internet points more than supporting the team.

Nah you're going OTT here mate. Horrendous error but name me a keeper in world football that hasn't made them?
I dont care about other GKs around the world. I know this feller has cost us in two derbies and he;s a calamity waiting to happen.

I know it, and so do you and everyone else.

So name a better keeper then Pickford that we could peruse and would want to join us. I'll wait......

I am humiliated by this derby record...a record that feller has contributed to in the most embarrassing, needless of ways.

I could give a flying one about Pickford and his feelings. It means a lot less to him than it does to me, I can GUARANTEE you that.

He's an ego. That's all. His arrogance has just cost us in a Merseyside derby. I make no apology for calling him out on that. Not one bit. And his compounding of it by hiding his catastrophic error behind a coward's comment like "it's just what happens to Everton at Anfield" was a disgrace.

We have him and he has no substantial competition for a starting place. That to me is unforgivable. It's a situation we have to see addressed in January.

It would rattle out a fantastic point if Silva went out and bought a new keeper in January. That would hammer home that he wants genuine quality in depth for each position and give players who throw games away the punishment they richly deserve by dropping them.

Txt book.

No, most keepers would have a palmed it over the bar and conceded a corner. But has @davek is saying his arrogance overtook his ability and he somehow thought he could catch it
That's all it was: arrogance and ego.

HE wanted the last piece of action in this game to be HIM catching and holding the ball in HIS arms to show the watching world that HE is a goal keeper of note in a massive game.

How 'kin difficult is it for some to accept that reality? Any PL goalie deals with that. But not him, and it's all down to it all having to be about HIM.

Totally agree mate, it's bad enough us knowing it exists. I don't want the players reinforcing the fact and actually making it a proper thing. He should just say it was his mistake and move on.

This is it. The reason he hasn’t just tipped it over is because he wanted to avoid a last second corner, as it would be “Everton that” to concede one. Just do the simple bloody thing.

Good luck on finding this mystical goalkeeper that doesn't make any mistakes lid, it doesn't exist.

Every goalkeeper makes them, its how you bounce back from them that you should be judged on.

Since his last mistake against West Ham he's been faultless until yesterday.

Agree and disagree. I have no issue with his arrogance and ego, Big Nev had it. He should come out and hold his hands up and admit the balls up not blame the Anfield jinx

I find it hard to sympathise with Pickford and worry about the abuse he might get from a load of horse punches.
My sympathies lie with all the blues going to school or work today to face unmerciful stick from bellends who's only reason for supporting the slime is because Sky television tells them constantly how great they use to be.
Labby got it right one Evertonian is worth 20 of them.

I have no sympathy with him either. It was a crazy and wreckless thing to do. My eight year old was inconsolable last night so I know what you’re saying. We do need to give him our full backing on Wednesday though. Dwelling on this either from fans or players will not do any good at all.

You are right but its also understandable, it was a major error in a derby match where we more than held our own with the last kick of the game.

It will be laughed about for ages, just not by us.

It just show he is not quite there yet. He has all the tools but the great ones don't make mistakes like that. I think he will be fine but god its frustrating.

Its happened, he's human. He's OUR keeper for years to come, he's also the best we have had since TH departed. Lets just back him, he's saved us in many a game
