I don't think it is Khal.

He's said what we all think, let's be honest. That's why it's annoying.

I'm glad he did the interview. He shouldn't have made the mistake and he should do better in that situation. It wasn't a routine one but he got it all wrong and it is our luck there that it happened the way it did. As I've said previously, in any other game I honestly reckon that ball goes out of play. It's not a conspiracy or anything, it's just that rabble.

It is one thing us thinking it, Toff.....even us saying it, heck even us actually knowing it and believing it to be true

We are all here for the long haul......a lifelong commitment.

But if transitory players with no more than a temporary allegiance to our cause start thinking it then we are in bigger trouble than we thought....because if he is thinking it then it must be a talking point around water cooler at the FF canteen and that kind of hocus pocus bunkum takes root even among players who have been here just a short while.

Personally I do not believe Pickford, nor any other of our players outside of the few that are born and bred Blues, gives any credence to the fatalism that colours the thinking of the fans over this fixture.

Which is why I agree with those who say it is a deflection on his behalf....by saying it he is tipping a wink to Voodooism or some other such nonsense that says Murphy’s Law prevails here and if they cannot beat us in a normal fashion or if the referee does not hand them the points then some unseen hand will intervene and on this occasion he was the unfortunate victim :(

Every one knows how bad the record is, every club has had a bad record in some form at local rivals, Leeds for example hadn't won at Sheffield United for 26 years before Saturday. If you let it dwell on you then you will feel humiliation, seasons aren't defined on two games against rivals, they are settled by what you do in the other 36 games, we've had set backs before this season and we bounced back everytime, 6-7 points in the next 3 before Christmas and this will have been put to bed
Not to our extent. Not between clubs in a period when we've each been top ten. Everton, regardless of financial restrictions in that time, should have a much better record than this.

It is now a standing joke nationally and soon enough internationally.

We are disgraced and humiliated by this record. It stands no comparison between two big city rivals that I know of....not in terms of status of both clubs and unbroken periods in the same division.

You have no idea how hard all that is for me to acknowledge, but acknowledge it I must: we are deep, deep, deep in their shadow. It's a disgrace that this club has allowed that to happen and I cant see this ending anytime soon. Its a crisis of epic organisational proportions. We have Barcleona players out on that pitch and the likelihood is that the stink of our fear is going to envelope them also. They probably cant fathom WTF is going on with this record against Liverpool, because to be quite frank they aren't that good.

The quotes tbf mate, he does say that he holds his hands up. But given I write these articles regularly myself, the 'Everton luck' line is definitely the one to lead his quotes on. I'm not saying the journos twisted his words at all, btw, I just don't think he meant it as a deflection tactic. It seemed more like a rueful acceptance that he'd messed up, but also acknowledging that usually that just wouldn't happen.

96th minute of a 94-min game we could easily have scored 2 or 3 in, and that happens. Christ.

We didn't take our numerous chances, had we done so Pickfords brainfart would not have mattered, he's saved our arse on many occasions, we didn't save his yesterday by scoring a couple.
Been hearing this sort of stuff for a decade.

It's deeper than a couple of missed chances. Pickford's actions crystallised that.

This is it absolutely. You can get over errors but what struck me was the potential impact this will have on a whole set of players new to the derby, and who didn't show any sign of playing with a psychological handicap until THAT happened.

Adding insult to injury doesn't begin to describe the massive kick in the proverbials we suffered yesterday, and it being self-inflicted.

There must be literally no circumstances in which the RS countenance this fixture going against them any longer. It was hard enough as it was.
Exactly mate. The virus has spread into a new group of players and the new manager. They will now struggle to fight that off and we're into another era of punishment in the derby due to what Pickford described as "Everton's luck".

Don't know if it's been said before but our goalie is quite young and you can see he likes to be involved .
Be it passing dummies etc.
You even see him celebrating saves and he laughs at opposition fans on the wind up .
I hope he learnt a lot yesterday

Pickford used that statment to cover his own arse. How poor is that after making an error of munumental proportions to then make matters worse by attempting to normalise us being beaten by them?

I mean, WTF are these players getting paid for? To undermine this club by offer mystical excuses that serve to umake it ok that we fail in future derbies?

I hope he learned that he's not that good and that every game he has to prove himself fit to be our GK.

Something tells me that the arrogant 'kin no-mark will remain with his head firmly up his own arse though.

Inappropriate Language
Still don't know what the [Poor language removed] he was thinking....there was no need to touch that ball. Hopefully learns from it.

A Professional Footballer going into a game thinking ‘Im not that good’ is exactly what every team needs.
