2021/22 Lucas Digne

He has the third highest tackles in the squad with 2.2 per game, and he also offers 2.3 clearances and 1 interception per game. In addition, he is only dribbled past 0.9 times per game. For comparison, that’s less than Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilón and Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo.

Regardless of his stats he’s 28. We have spent nearly 600m on players in the last 5 years and brought almost nothing back inn. Someone has to go to allow wriggle room to improve the squad. The only players who can go who will bring decent money inn is Pickford, DCL, Richy, and Digne. Pickford would be hard to sell because all the top clubs have a decent Keeper and I wouldn’t be selling DCL or Richy as their still both young. Selling Digne is the most sensible thing Benitez and the club can do. Cash inn now for £30m and in gives us room to bring in a few nee players. I honestly don’t see what the problem is here. The only stat that matters is the one that states that since Digne has been here we haven’t finished in a European spot. Time for something different now.

He has the weight of this club now and the balls to act against vested interests...the vested interests we've all moaned about for years that need attacking and getting shut of.

Get rid of Benitez and that malaise continues.

There is absolutely no choice other than to get behind Benitez for any logical Evertonian.
Have to agree as much as i don't like the fella i want to see him cull this squad it needs to be done no sentiment shown
The manger has the backing of the owner he won't be sacked so if players don't like him they have to go it is that simple we can't do nothing about it other than just hope he gets it right

I would love to know exactly what happened that was so ad the relations between manager and player have broken down so badly.
There are constant rows and disagreements at all clubs but things are patched up and everyone gets back to work.

This seems different.
My own feeling is that there may be politics at play from both sides.

Digne realises that there won't always be an opportunity to move to a club challenging for silverware and possibly some clubs have been letting his agent know of their interest.

Everton on the other hand would welcome the transfer fee, the saving in wages and the freedom it would give in the transfer market.

I have heard fees of around 20m but surely that can't be right for a 28 year old French international.

We're spending the money on...another left back.

And out of that overall spend...he's been the one that been good

Basically everyone arguement now is that he's 28

Who says we are bringing in a few players on the back of this? All im hearing is one in one out.

Which makes the whole thing questionable

Spot on - if a Pochettino or Simeone wanted the job by all means sack Raffa Cakes tomorrow but the reality is the best out there mid season will be a out of work duffer like Lampard or Pulis.
He also might do well yet, he still has a lot of dross to replace. At least the Chelsea game showed the squad may be a little deeper than we think if those lads get another twelve months experience.

So Digne is Judas because he wanted us to play better then allegedly downed tools after trying to speak to the manager BUT you deem it fine that our entire squad downs tools against any teams that could possibly challenge Liverpool?? You are weird.
There's no contradiction there.
