Were not talking about a desk based job. This is a results based business where it is not about being liked.

There has been plenty said about Kenwright”s tenure and the never ending family club/ community effort. That’s all well and good but it all feels like a cosy pipe and slippers place to work. It is nice to be in it, but it doesn’t necessarily create a winning culture.

Often in business a new CEO will be brought in to massively shake things up. It usually happens to a failing company which is what Everton is. Massive losses and poor performance. Something has to be done.

Some of the employees hate the change and leave. Those that buy in to the new ways success.

No players should feel they can coast. Not even our best ones, it’s the wrong culture. This is about resetting the club.
I don’t do a desk based job and I can confidently say that if a site manager came in with the same management style as Benitez he’d be picking up his teeth within the hour of starting.
Antagonistic management only produces conflict , ill feeling and resentment which results in deteriorating performance , wherever it is employed.

Yes but if the site manager came in and said could you please do this and that and you said 'No I don't want to' then trouble will be apparent. For all we know Digne may have just refused to follow instructions. They may have had a conversation about it and Digne still refused? We don't know but either way it does not bode well

Fine so we can all agree he must be sacked

Yes but only when he has money to spend and at least an 80% fit squad and a team to call his own. One hand tied behind his back will not bring good results in. Let him loose and Cull the squad and backroom staff that have failed us for years then if still the same .....sack him.

Have to agree with that

It'd be more like the site manager coming in and telling the plasterers to get rid of their bags of gypsum based plaster and replace it with an artisan clay based mix, with animal dung, horse hair and a lime binder. ?

See that is making judgement without knowing the facts......blame the manager for Digne, Blame the manager for the Newcastle postponement, blame the manager for playing only 6 minutes of football against Burnley. The blame game is just out of control and bit of a joke really

That all sounds great but the reality is that a lot of us have functioning eyes and are disgusted at the absolute tripe that is being served up. If you were a player, especially a senior international you'd be furious at what we can all see is not working being repeatedly demanded by the man who would like us all to believe that he is a tactical genius. No, your position is either based in myopia or kopite wummery, and I have to say, it is quite repulsive

I do expect a site manager to say ‘can you please’ or words to that effect actually.
Good management is working with people not against them.
Overly aggressive management stifles initiative and only delivers you a workforce that can only work to a strict plan and collapses when faced with unplanned for eventualities.
And life ,(and football) ,is full of unplanned for eventualities

Naive beyond belief.

Everyone knows what happended because the manager told us and the player never felt the need to correct him...which any player would accused of that.

Why are you defending this player when he's decided he wants out?

Did you defend Barmby?
Is this where the manager said that the player had told him he was unavailable because of illness? If so, it turned out that several other players were ill as well. Funny how Digne's sickness is the only one highlighted.

Of course, maybe there was another statement from Benitez saying that Digne had refused to play, if so please let us know about it, link etc.
