2021/22 Lucas Digne

If Digne could get the balance right, between defending and attacking, that would help. His actual defending has been 2nd rate for quite some time.
When going forward, his crosses are usually a) hitting the first defender, b) woefully overhit, or c) cut back to nobody running in on them.
But his agent constantly posts his defensive stats on Twitter. He's world class.

Walsh on record saying some of his recommended signings were ignored by the hierarchy.

It appears we are only spending now due to the calamitous situation we find ourselves in.

Both Walsh and Brands had stellar CVs before coming to Everton.

Yet they are the problem?
Walsh had never been a director of football before and hasn't been since and Brands had only had relative success in a lesser league at a club with a much smaller budget so I wouldn't say their CVs were stellar personally they were both people we were asking to take on much bigger jobs than they'd ever done before.

He has been finished for a while, its a shame, good once but needs a change

Famous last words and all that, but I can't see anything but an outright sale or loan with OBLIGATION this month. Yes, we'll have done ourselves out of a few bob by publicly binning him and signing his replacement, but should still get a handsome price.

He's wanted by a few clubs, he wants out and most importantly as far as our negotiating position goes he'll want something sorted to boost his chances of a WC place. My guess is Chelsea for an initial £20m or thereabouts, with a few quid in conditions tagged on.

We shouldn't sell to Newcastle that's strengthening a rival currently. I suspect Chelsea will be where he will end up
Think the Newcastle chat may be to try and hurry Chelsea up or get them to make an improved offer. Player wants CL by all accounts and that ain’t happening at Newcastle for a fair while.

Chelsea may be reluctant to buy or accept a loan with obligation since they have a very good LB to come back from injury in the summer.

There is no good outcome here. We're losing one of the few quality players we have on our books because the manager is a pretty, angry little man that can't ever let go of a grudge. Someone will gain a great player in Digne and they'll do it on the cheep at our expense.
I agree. The only positive is we have brought in two young fullbacks it's something we haven't done in the past move on players when they get to 28/29 and replaced before they go over the hill. The issue is how Benitez has done it, divisive and toxic.

The results on the pitch are poor now. But if we can keep Benitez in place for another 18 months many of the issues above him in the boardroom and underneath him amongst the playing / coaching staff will disappear.

I just hope he gets the chance to carry it out. Moshiri surely knows sticking with Benitez is the only course open to him if he wants to address the culture of amateurism.

Think one needs to look at the relationship between him and FSW. IF only they would talk sensibly instead of chucking the toys out of the pram.
