villa are a club on the rise with ambitious owners who have money to spend

Digne fits the profile of the sort of player a club like that wants

Agreed, but if any top club was in for him, all they’d have to do would be to match the fee Villa will pay (which they easily could) and he’s go there you’d assume. Which suggests that either they’re not in for him at any price, or they’re only interested at a lower one so we’ve taken Villa’s offer (which I’m sure will probably be lower than most fans want it to be)

Either way we’ve made Digne available for transfer and the top clubs haven’t put their money where their mouth is.

Let’s have it right, Digne is the man that he’s picked on to stamp his authority.

No other manager has ever had a bad word to say about Digne; within 12 weeks there was a problem between them because he questioned why he was being told to stay back

It’s nothing new from the manager, he’s well known antagonist.

Let’s not forget he tried to it on with Christiano Ronaldo as well
Shame he can’t pick on our crap players. Can’t wait til Benitez is gone, absolute cancer on this club

Keep seeing people say how Villa are the team going places.

It was the same last season.

They're currently 3 points above us - having played an extra game.

Hate him, but Gerrard was an ambitious appointment and they're going to back him financially

All they need to do to leave us firmly in the rear view mirror is to not be as crap at spending money as we've been

We're going in different directions as clubs right now

Digne is a smart signing for them

He made himself unavailable due to illness.

Full training, then decided he was ill for a game the next day.

We desperately needed players for Chelsea - he cried off.

Lucas Digne’s return to the Everton fold has been put on hold after he informed Rafael Benítez he was unavailable for Thursday’s trip to Chelsea through illness.

The France international was dropped for Everton’s past two games but had been in line to start for the injury-hit team at Stamford Bridge. However, having trained on Tuesday, Digne declared himself unavailable 24 hours later.

“Lucas Digne is a good player, he was an important player for us and yesterday we did a training session and he was in the 11 starters,” the Everton manager said. “Today, he said he is ill and not available for tomorrow.”

Benítez has previously declined to comment on claims he has fallen out with Everton’s only senior left-back and was similarly reticent when asked whether he believed Digne was ill.

“It is not that I believe or not,” he said.

Benitez' fault. Reap what you sow.
