Given our financial situation, we can’t actually afford to not sell our best players. Selling our best players at 29 is exactly what we should be doing, we get high value for an asset that will soon depreciate. We can’t afford to have all our bets players stay through their decline and then retire for nothing.

Disagree. Our financial situation is temporarily in flux while we get rid of the £100k a week players off the books. Selling a Richarlison or a Dom to fund this kopties seek and destroy mission of Everton FC isn't how we can operate.

We can afford to have our best players regardless of age playing. We can't afford our worst players sitting on a pay packet.

I do not buy the narrative of Digne being the kopites sacrificial lamb so we can buy a load of kids to fund his new revolution.

I was referring to the fact about him wanting to leave PSG and Barcelona. He was very happy at Everton, so much so he commited his long term future to the club. He has had a falling out with benetiz if he hadn’t he’s still be here.
I dont want him here. He's got form kicking up a fuss to get a move.

Good riddance to the Kopite tattoo-wearing ferret.

Nah mate, ever notice every good player we want to bin, turns into a bad sort, Lookman, Vlasic, Kean, Jamo, Digne.

If the club needs the dough - that’s fine just say it, but I’m not falling for the false morality and the framing in the media. It happens to often and to conveniently.
Not one of those players you've listed has lit the world on fire since though.

20m would be very poor.

Benitez hasn't helped, but if a player says they want to leave it's often a knock down price.

I don't care.

Benitez could have slapped Digne's bird on the arse for all I care mate, you don't cry off/withdraw from playing.

There's no excuse for any professional footballer, certainly one earning 128k a week to cry off.

Whatever reason he felt to be valid - it isn't.

Important to acknowledge that none of us know what's gone on - we're all guessing.

How much he earns should have no bearing on if he is able to play or not. The "crying off" thing is like telling someone to man up. If you are ill you are ill.

You are spot on, we are indeed all guessing, so how do you know his reason is not valid? That doesn't make any sense?

'Nah mate' to what?

There's nothing I've said there to dispute.

I'm not saying Digne is a wrong'un, nor is he a JUDAS?! I'm simply saying, I was 'Team Digne' on the Digne vs Benitez snarl until Digne decided to jib us for the Chelsea game.

Even if they hadn't fallen out, I'd be happy selling Digne for good money. We need to accept selling is part of the game, and in our position we need to sell better.

Unfortunately the way it's played out/January means we aren't going to get the money we should.

As best we know he was ill mate. But I don’t agree it’s that simplistic. Reports afterwards said he questioned Benitez style of play and the manager used him as as a sacrificial lamb.

aThere needs to be an Alpha, I’d accept that. But the best managers can make the point, discoline them, bring the player back in line, than get the best out of them. The best managers can do that.

Digne is one of our best players, you dont sell your best players when you are going head first into a relegation battle - if you want to sell an older player do it in the summer when you are safe, he’s not that old anyway.

The lads been thrown under the bus by the manager in the media, the minute the deal was done fir the Ukrainian lad.

If you were one of our best players or prospective new player, woukd you want to play for a manager like that.

Because you'd be a mug to accept someone who did a full training day and is told he's in the 11 would then, same day, say he's too Ill to play the following day.

Come off it.

I know you're on the wind up, but calling out someone for a tattoo that is similar to Liverpool's motto, but not actually it, while goading Everton fans by aggressively championing an actual kopite legend with the worst managerial run in living memory is really weird.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I see people utterly pissed off at an Everton win as the ones on the wind up.

If the cap fits....

If Digne hadnt fallen out with Benitez and had moved this window, i wouldve happily taken £25m.
Firstly, as he hasnt performed at all for us as last 12 months and is a soon to be 29 year old full back.
Secondly as it lets us spend money that we couldnt have otherwise, to improve our team in other positions where we really need it.
Should he have put in another 12 months in the same ilk as past 12 then we would be sitting here next year happy to take £15m for a soon to be 30 year old diminishing full back.
I detest Benitez but this transfer is getting put on him like its his fault and its terrible for us, when i dont think we'll be missing Digne 2022-.

I agree and disagree at the same time. We need to sell players in this day and age, especially considering our predicament with PL rules. Digne is a very good player who we should get good money for. But freezing him out like has been done is figuratively cutting off your nose to spite your face. He's STILL a good player regardless of form. If he wanted away, sure. But this is a manager saying he has ultimate authority despite this being the absolute wrong manager to give that to.
