The risk is the wages really. No one is buying him at 30+ and paying the wage you're reportedly offering. It is why we really struggled to get rid of some our earners.
PSG could easily snatch him up - they don't care about money, age or reputation, and it's in his homeland. Either way I think our only concern is money which thankfully we don't need to worry about right now.

The guy scored 10 goals last PL-season so he can’t be that bad.
El Ghazi blows extremely hot and cold. I think 6-7 of those goals were pens, and he is the best penalty taker I've ever seen for Villa, having never missed for us and often under extremely pressured situations (eg last min pen vs Wolves away). He has one way of playing - on the left, run, cut in, shoot a lot.

To be frank, with the attacking options we've got, he's now surplus to requirements - behind Bailey, Buendia, Coutinho, Traore, and the youth coming through in Philogene-Bidace and Chukwuemeka, he's not going to be a regular ever again. I'd be surprised if he went to you and he feels like a lower PL team's starting player.
Having said that, he's had some wonderful games for us so maybe he just needs to be trusted and start a regular run of games.

I have no doubt he will be excellent for Villa, they have signed a French internation right at his peak age, which is 28 btw.

If its closer to £30 million then I suppose its a good deal for us looking at book profit allowing us to improve in other areas, Patterson & Mykalenko.

I just wish we was not in this position, because even when DIgne was so called off form, was still a good player, put a shift in and always looked to care.

Many will re-write his time & form with us, but for most of his time with us we have ALL said he is as good or even better than Robertson / Chilwell, so lets not look like bitter divs.

I dont think its a case of rewriting anything. He was great in his first season, couldn't be faulted. The last 18 months he has looked average. never quite good enough defensively.

Personally i think people are massively over reacting to him being sold.

With respect, PSG aren't buying him if Aston Villa looking to sell him

Then what do we do with our new left back? And would you be happy to keep Digne for a couple more years into his 30’s and leaving on a free. In the meantime to raise funds and comply with the rules, we will have to sell Pickford or DCL
It does still make sense to sell, I’m happy either way really. Do think as a rule we should be selling aging players and reinvesting, I just really don’t like the way this one has been handled by the manager.

Richie is almost certainly off at the end of the year so there’s the funds if needed.

He'll fit right in then. Slot him in to the starting XI

Walk away from anything south of 28 mill, sellers market - or would have been if the manager hadn't knocked 5 mill of his value by throwing him under a bus in the media.

Happily keep him until the summer.
Yeah but potential buys ignore stuff like that, they only look at what the player can do for them, Gerrard and the scouts at Villa will know exactly what he is capable off and what he could bring to the team, if its 25 millions worth of football they will buy.
We dont have to sell as much as he needs to find a club to get in the world cup squad which is also a factor.

You have proved my point, so you thiunk he has only been good for 1 season for us !?! Wow.

And this last 18 months of him being poor is just nonsence, he was decent last season, still got good numbers, and was solid defensive.

He did get an injury and now we have compleley changed his role, hence him not happy and him leaving.
