According to Sky Sport reporter Florian Plettenberg, Newcastle United have made a late attempt to hijack Lucas Digne’s proposed move to Aston Villa.

Digne won't choose the Championship with Newcastle. Villa's bid probably just short of £30m is what they have to pay for a January transfer. Everton hold all the cards.

I don't have an issue with Digne being sold to bring in younger players - that's sensible business.

But we wouldn't have needed to spend £17m on a left-back if our manager was able to get along with his players.

I know pace everywhere, functional central midfielders and a system to match. Think they are over thinking set pieces a bit , or is that because we don't do any thinking at all.
