2021/22 Lucas Digne

I have no problem with a player having a disagreement with a manager and visa versa but keep it in house.

Fine, Drop him etc but facts are Digne hasn't been good this season and some of last. He is a great player who has lifted his foot off because he has no pressure on his position and the only motivation he has is with the French squad.

I hope we keep him and this is a managed to help the team but if someone wants to go or the manager doesn't want them, that's fine AS LONG as we have a replacement lined up right away.

1 player has been alienated. We don't know what's gone down, but he will be gone in a few weeks, there's plenty of interest in him.

Aside from media reports which came out in the past few days theres no way to know if theres ANY interest in Digne.

That's exactly it. Digne is the new hero of the Rafael out clan. They're using him as a way to have a go at Rafael.

Well this is nonsense.

Its been stated plainly and clearly my numerous posters that Digne could have been dropped to the bench which would have sent the same message.

That wouldnt have affected his transfer value.

Unless theres a deal agreed already then it makes no sense to freeze him out as it impacts his value.

On the surface it looks like extremely stupid management of an asset.

"moral authority"? We hadn't won in, what, 10 matches? If my boss was making decisions that I could clearly see where going poorly I would tell him from my POV what I think is going wrong.

Let's put it this way, would you rather the player shut up and lost matches and just collected a paycheck or would you rather a player actually care what the results are and make suggestions for the team to get better?
I would rather all the players got their heads down and worked hard. I agree players have opinions and have the right to voice those opinions but it is all about the team, if you are asked to do something that you don’t agree with say your piece but then put all your effort into what you are being asked to do.
Players are paid to play, so play.
As I said I am not sure Benitez is sufficiently up to date with what it takes to be successful in modern football to manage to turn Everton around but we can’t keep chopping and changing managers, systems, transfer strategies etc.

Hmmm, Arteta drops his captain for indiscipline. Big crisis? No. It is normal practice when employees go against their bosses. Arteta showed admirable managerial qualities telling the prying media scumbags to go away and invent their own stories. Of course here at Everton, or I should say here on this Everton fans forum we have a few with an agenda which steers them toward inventing a crisis, any crisis to get at the manager. Their new hero and victim, Digne serves their agenda. How dare the manager exclude him.
Said player frustrated at having a big part of his game restricted, has word with manager, gets dropped for two key games because of it despite being both fit to play and featured in the weekly training video

We’re left with a situation that our only defensive cover for today is a piss poor back up right back and a still wet behind the ears defender because of it and playing a CB at left back yet again, it’s ridiculous management

Opinions on the surface as you say, expose that you know insufficient to give a sound opinion. To go further and suggest as you do that various posters on here have better ideas on how to manage indisciplined players is ludicrous.

If you own an asset which you intend to sell do you:

A: Tell everyone that you dont want it any longer as its not as valuable as it appears and then invite public offers?

B: Try to boost the short term value of the asset while putting the feelers out to gauge interest in a sale?

Its common sense and nothing to do with "indiscipline" and everything to do with how to maximise asset value while 2-4 weeks away from a sale.

We all know you hate Benitez mate - but he's the manager and he will be for a long time judging by the way Moshiri has given him power to boot half the backroom staff out.

You dont have to like it but you have to accept it. There are a lot on the forum who dont like the guy but they have to accept that this is how the rodeo runs now - you get your head down or the stubborn manager will see you gone and thats it.

For all we know he may put him back in the squad midweek and wanted to keep him out a week or so to send a message.
He literally gave Brands a 3 year extension a couple of months ago and then binned him off.

Moshiri will change tact at the drop of a hat, that much is obvious. I would not put any credence into him or anybody being here for a long time.

Exactly mate. 1 player who's agent has admitted that he cares more about the national team. His priorities lie elsewhere, which is probably why Rafael has dropped him.
I have never ever heard of Digne being any trouble at any club he has been at throughout his career.

He was our vice captain, has been this season too. He has always been a decent pro.

This whole being trouble in training or "caring more about the national team" shtick stinks to be honest.

Good mates with Doucoure too. He will be next.
