Man City fan lets rip...

I visit plenty of sites of other clubs and you get the same old whinges about how the media hates their club and favours their rivals. It's just so tiresome.

As for City, well imo they're only just slightly less odious than the RS and post some right nasty stuff about us and the city of Liverpool in general over on Bluemoon.

They're in the running for everything yet seem intent on looking for things to cryarse over. F them.

Absolute rats who love to cry foul at every opportunity despite being owned and run by Abu Dhabi. They don't get the plaudits they think they deserve because they have one of the most expensive squads ever assembled, what they are achieving should be expected when you can spot a 500m bench.

Driving around in an F1 car wondering why people aren't wanking themselves silly as they lap a push bike.

Couldn't have put it better. Top post.

Oh I am fairly sure visiting any other fan site would produce similar findings.

its all about subscriptions and pandering to utd and rs fans,
why would bt or sky want to upset their biggest customers,so they get their ex players in as pundits!
the rs are always on the tv primetime slots, never 6pm on a weekday either domestic or CL,
the tv companies can milk the advertising.
in my experience the ones who moan the most are paying exorbitant monthly direct debits to sky and virgin,
the only way things will change is if you cancel those subscriptions!

Money club gets referred to as a Money club?

Same thing happened to Chelsea when they got taken over.

Stop whining. It's what they are.

Hi looses all credibility when he says they are not state run and instead owned by an "individal" - it is that very brainwashing that gets them into this mess.

my two cents for what its worth....

I should say from the outset, i've always had a soft spot for Man City, I was bright to Maine Road as a kid and was delighted to see them get back into top flight football, but I was not a fan to the take over and the transition the club went through as a result. They lost a lot of their fans, who rightly questioned the deal and with that the soul of the club was damaged although clear not eradicated, which is great for the club and new owners.

Their achievements since have been incredible, they have invested strategically and have 5 leagues to show for it, but it doesnt change the fact that they have achieved this through financial doping, they have accepted their guilt and paid the fines (twice now), they did their deal with the devil (which is fine) but the consequence of it is the asterix beside any if their achievements.

Their reality is the media, the public in general and the football fraternity, will never give them the credit they deserve, but that's the trade off they have for the way they have gained their success, they are a showpony for an arab state & they are treated that way, their wins will be forgotten by history, we dont see Premier league years when they win leagues and their biggest moment "Aguerooooo" is remembered as much for costing United is a league as it is City's win.

Where for me this gets interesting is the players, they also dont get recognition outside the club, that again some of them deserve, David silva should be talked about like Scholes, Lampard etc, he is not. De Bruyne doesnt get the credit her deserves, again this is the trade off for representing an Arab state.

I mentioned in another thread recently the "emthyhad" jibes as the epitome of the challange that city have, the owners are desperate to portray an institution like Barca or United, but the reality is they have resorted to falsifying their gate numbers (Source - GMP reports) to give themselves some credibility, it's a desperate move from an ownership, who offer "influencers" free admission in exchange for instagram posts.

Ultimately, your man is right, there is apathy towards them, the media aren't bothered, because they cant get ratings when they are on, the papers wont do an 8 page pull out because it wont sell and history will forget their achievements or at a minimum belittle them, but that is the price of dancing with the devil the have. I wouldnt want to see us go the same route, even if it it meant 5 titles in 10 years.
Why do most of your comments echo what fans of a certain other club would say? It is intriguing.

just my opinion PPT - but to confirm

- they have paid fines and accepted they were in breach of FFP
- GMP have published figures confirming they over egg attendance
- City have recruited influencers to go to games for free
- their players don’t get the credit or awards their form deserves
- they don’t get the recognition for their achievements in the same way say Man United, or even Liverpool have, which is ridiculous
Firstly, allow me to apologise for my response / reply to your post.
I'm a fan of another team on another clubs forum. Therefore I am a guest.
As a guest I should have not behaved or responded that way. It was just
out of frustration. I could reply one by one to the points you made but I
would be here all afternoon and it's simply not worth the hassle. If I get
bored at work next week (which I probably will) I might knock up a response
which is meant to be informative and not confrontational. It's just that City
fans are both weary and bored of the lies and falsehoods that are pedalled on
a daily basis about our club by the mainstream media and therefore they
effectively become accepted as the truth by the general public. Which is
exactly what propoganda is supposed to do. The media can say what they like.
Most City fans don't give a toss anymore. Yep we won the mega roll over lottery
and have enjoyed it just as any other fans of any other football club would have
done the same and why not? A lot of the stuff thrown at us is based on jealousy,
fear (which is understandble) and unfortunately racism. It's just the way the world works.
Once again apologies for my intial reply.

most importantly no need for an apology - if a forum was built on agreement, it would be a very very dull place.

I suppose in a perverse way I was agreeing with the original article, but as per my original point the author destroys his entire arguement when he says Man City is owned by an individual, that’s propaganda blinding someone as much as the mainstream media.

city & their players don’t and won’t get the credit they deserve, my point is it’s due to their financial doping (which they have accepted guilt for), but the arguement that it’s racism / xenophobia from the mainstream media is also very very fair. The reality is it’s probably somewhere in between.

as for the rest of it, I get the impression city group are aghast at the lack of off-field progress. Their project simple isn’t creating the football institution they dream off, they must be baffled that they got bigger gates the year pre takeover than now & that’s probably why messi will be important to the owners.

My personal take is fair play to them, the remaining fans shouldn’t give a flying [Poor language removed] about the media, but the key point is the owners crave the attention and adulation they can’t buy

EXACTLY This.

Ridiculous how many are blind to positive media coverage of their own team because they're so focused on cryarsing over perceived slights and positive coverage of other teams.

Literally a story on the BBC's website today about how great this current Citeh side are playing, how they're in the running for an unprecedented quadruple and how they'd have to be viewed as one of the greatest sides ever if they did it.

Same type of article still on the front page of the Guardian's site even after a busy day of football with plenty of news on and off the pitch.

The whiney entitlement and need for constant positive reassurances, usually from grown men, is beyond pathetic.

Whats financial doping? if someone is prepared to invest then that should be down to them. Isn’t a commercial advertising deal an investment? No doubt in my mind FFP was purely brought in to hopefully preserve the status quo. Made up City have ripped the backside out of it.

Fair question- for me the morals of the rule & the motives of FFP are very questionable, but so is the handball rule, but if you sign up to league / cup competition you agree to live with them.

In city’s case, I would say sponsorship deals from state owned airlines, mobile companies, which are way above market value and happen to be from the same state that owns the club would fit the bill, especially given the club accepted they were guilty and ironically paid the fines as punishment
