Easy with hindsight, but a back 3 was the best way to deal with the problem. If you are struggling at full back, then you ease the issue by using wing backs.

Yes you don't want to change a winning team, but injuries mean sometimes you have to. I can't say he is adapting well to injuries or suspensions and I would be very concerned if we are without DCL on Saturday.
It’s probably just the wording in the interview, but wasn’t keen on the implication that because Myko got injured with 20mins left on Friday training it was too late to think of any major alterations. Game over, has to be a like for like swap, square peg round hole.

Erm. For £75k to £125k per week, I don’t think I’d have been that bothered if my boss said “Sorry lads. Crunch time, your missus will have to make her own way to Waitrose. Extra sesh Friday afternoon and come in Saturday morning to go through it on the whiteboards.” I mean he changed shape mid match and it worked fine (I know City had settled). Its not like they would have needed a 6 week residential course to switch shape.

Far too much trust in Holgate who got thrown to the wolves (still responsible for his own ineptitude though).

When he changed the shape after Doucoure's suspension everyone went mad (in hindsight, it's what most people wanted him to do at the time) and said why on earth would you not just keep it the same with a different player. This time he does that and the reverse happens. Almost like people have absolutely no clue and are just full of impotent rage so will rail against absolutely anything isn't it?
The change in shape when Doucoure went out was to use a midfield 2. We have all been watching Everton much longer than Sean Dyche and know that this team cannot compete with a midfield 2. The changes didn't work, and most supporters could have predicted a midfield 2 would not work.

I think Everton supporters know this team as well as any of our recent managers, and that's been a big problem, and where a lot of frustration comes from. The biggest problem with constantly changing the manager is each new manager goes through the pointless process of giving more opportunities to players who are not good enough, and we waste time and throw away points. It's one of the main reasons I did not support making a late managerial change near the end of the January.

And most people will also say we can't play with a back 3, so the same thing would have happened when we inevitably lost the game because City are a million light years ahead of us.

We signed Conor Coady presumably to play in a defensive 3. So we definitely had that option. It's not like he needs weeks on the training ground to know what to do in a back 3.

But that's another problem with the constant changing of managers. We signed players for one system, the last manager then changed away from that system when he was near the sack, and the new manager doesn't like the system we signed players for.

Lampard had no idea what system he wanted to play, I said that before the season started and it just got clearer after that. In my opinion playing Holgate at left back was the most logical thing to do yesterday all things considered. Unfortunately Holgate is crap so it was never likely to turn out to be a masterstroke, but let's be honest here and say that if Dyche had gone to a back 3 and moved our most dangerous player in recent months to wing back people would have been cry arsing that he was too negative and he should have kept the same formation.

I blame Dyche for the selection and for not adapting the system. One player out seems to completely throw him and he can't adapt.

Our midfield was a shambles when Doucoure got the ban, no DCL means we hoof to Maupay, an injury to Coleman meant he tried Godfrey and Holgate before using a natural full back in that position, and he decided randomly to play Holgate as a left back when Mykolenko was out.

In short, I'm seeing a one dimensional manager who doesn't know how to adapt or find solutions to problems. One player missing should not result in such a drop off in performance
Our drop off from our best 11 (or so) and the rest of the squad is massive.

That's not on Dyche though, he has not signed anybody and has walked into a squad with massive gaping holes everywhere.

We don't have a decent left back regardless of everyone being fit.

All of the above issues were happening under other managers too. We have no depth at all, we do we not have a youth player to step in at left back for example.

He cant find solutions because there are no solutions there. Probably why he has handled DCL the way he has as he knows there is nobody else to step in adequately. We don't even have the squad to try different set ups really.

Let's forget the played for a moment and think of the damage we are doing to the club.

Yeah 40k a week is obscene and it should be a comfort to them, but we are still talking about a human, human confidence is fragile and confidence is key to performance in ANY job. Do we want whats best for the club, or do we want what's best for ourselves by not being able to control our emotions like a 5 year old.

Every job and walk of life isn't judged on the same scale. Morally and emotionally yes, but that's not the real world.

He's a very well compensated athlete at the top league in one of the biggest sports in the world, playing in front of an audience of 39000 people who have paid to watch him perform.

The audience has a right to voice their feelings. The players compensation is there for him to help him for the emotional side of the game also.

The majority of people aren't that lucky and are under far more pressure and stress that a couple of da's booing them

Thank god we have a DOF to make sure we keep to our footballing vision!

Of course they have the right to voice their feelings!

Doesn't make it any better though does it?

Nobody sets out to play badly.

No it doesn't.

But it's part and parcel of the game he signed up for, why he's paid a lot for it.

But he was booed being subbed. He wasn't being booed playing. Any confidence issues will have been there prior to any boos from a fan..

His pay is irrelevent! It doesnt make him "feel better" or anything like that. Thats the issue I have.

He was booed because he played like crap. Nobody enjoys that.
