I think he's a decent enough centre-back (he'd be third behind Mina and Tarkowski for me), but he's not going to get a game there any time soon.

Time to move on now.

This year he 27, October. If he wants to play regularly he has to swallow his pride and drop a lower level which means going from his 72 grand a week to under 25 grand a week. He may see it though that he could sit out his contract for the remaining 2 years and then move on thinking at 28/9 he can still perform at a lower level for a few more years

72 grand not 40

Where has the £72k magically appeared from?

4 years ago tonight since he missed the penalty for West Brom in the WBA v Villa play off final. He cried then too, think he always cares but never quite good enough.
Jed Steer giving him his "death stare" before the kick.

He didn’t want to play that badly, he was obviously gutted at how he played and being subbed, which is a shame.

That said, I wouldn’t judge the fans that booed, they’re in the stadium, emotions are high and it’s in the moment.

He’ll be sold in the summer, he needs it for his career as much as we need him off the books - what have his last three games been - Man City, the Palace red card and the Bournemouth cup game where he slipped on his arse and gave them a goal? Had high hopes for him at one point.
Maybe but reckon Mina is gone. Think Coady will return to Wolves given his no game time recently. He will fancy his chances.

I might be the only person in the world to have a Holgate kit. I saw him play one live and he got sent off. If we stay up he needs to go. If we go down we might have to keep him. Way too inconsistent now a days.

See another issue about this, the support for the first 35 minutes was fantastic, but all most are talking about was the disgraceful fan moment late in the second half.
If we give the players the same support against Bournmouth we give ourselves an edge, if we carry on with this culture of abuse we do ourselves no favors, and we wonder why its not an attractive club to join.

The manager called on Holgate to help out because we had injured players, if I was Holgate if he asked me again I would refuse on the principle we dont deserve to be saved

once the dog and duck asked me to help out cos they were short. I refused cos the manager never bought me on as a sub the season before when my new bird had come to watch.
Mind you I wasn’t pocketing £40k a week

Im no Holgate fan whatsoever but Goodison has been a toxic place for years now. At our best the fans are amazing but sadly we've destroyed the confidence of a number of managers/players.

Silva/Benitez were worn down as managers and a number of players of ours have been booed which is not on - Schneiderlin, King Salamon now Holgate.
Worn down? Great wumming.

And Rondon wasn’t actually booed. The change was booed because Benitez was bringing off a player who was actually performing well and it made no sense, it wasn’t because it was rondon. As was widely discussed at the time.

Used to think he had ask thing if he could just play regularly alongside someone other than Keane and focus but he just can’t seem to get it together for a long enough period. I’d sell him along with Keane, send Coady back, let Mina go, and rebuild the CB group around Tarkowski Branthwaite and Godfrey (last chance).

Sadly what will probably happen is Keane will stay, we’ll send Branthwaite back on loan and buy Coady perm.

The problem with trying to sell our players is absolutely no one wants to buy them.

And who can blame them.
