I’m racking my brain trying to think of the last player we loaned out that ended up being bought by the club he was on loan at. Kean had an obligation attached so I don’t count him.
I understand that a sale is better, but if there's no buyer there's no sale.

I'd rather a loan with the hope of a sale later than nothing.

If we do this properly*, we shouldn't lose out from a loan.

We get loan fees that pro rata his transfer value relative to the length remaining on his contract.

Then he can either go on a permanent to the loaning club - or he plays more and shop windows himself into a permanent deal somewhere else.

The worst-case is he sits on someone else's bench, isn't costing us wages while he does it, and we've received a loan fee.

* Yes, I know, Everton and doing things properly don't necessarily belong in the same sentence.
The experiment was Gomes last season

Don’t see Lille putting in any bids yet

Pathetic really that nobody wants the players that have actually played first team games and are earning over £10k a week. What happened to Gomes having an amazing season at Lille as I kept reading on here? Not even a sniff of interest from them.
We've consistently loaned players out and probably covered some wages on several occassions. If you were a potential buying club, why would you offer good money to sign the player when you know Everton will probably accept another loan again come the end of the window

Mason Holgate epitomises everything that is wrong with the current Everton set up. He seems to be a good young man but he simply isn’t a good enough footballer to play at the top end of the Premier League much like Tom Davies. Our squad is peppered with them. If we had a few really good players and some good players then we could carry players like Mason and Tom but we don’t, we have a majority of below standard players. I don’t want to pick Mason and Tom out as being the worst as they certainly aren’t, we have worse than them, but they are good examples.
Sean Dyche is very much in the same mould, he is adequate, he isn’t going to win us anything unless we have a massive slice of good luck.
The Owner and Kenwright are very much below the standard required to run a successful club. They will never bring us success unless they both take a massive step back and let someone else run things.
Hopefully that process has started and we can start to build back the Everton of my younger days, it is going to take time, money and patienc. The new ground can serve as a catalyst for change but those who take the decisions have to start getting things right and not waste another opportunity.

Definite no to a loan. Especially in June/July. If they want him they can pay the money or gamble on us loaning him on deadline day.

The only real reports are that Lille want to keep him. Theyre also reported to have set a price for Jonathan David -- perhaps after his sale they can take Gomes off us...
